I think what we are seeing, especially on special teams and defense, is the anger & hunger from most of our men watching from the sidelines last season as LSU fell apart in a lot of football games including our 3 losses. These boys are hungry, these boys have taken the low ranking, all the doubters, & all this talk about Auburn & Arkansas being the team to compete with Bama for the west, personal. Even though they say they do not let the media affect the way the play, BS…..These boys are hungry and out to prove something. IMO our WR’s need to wake up! – Get with it! They have dropped too many passes and going into the meat & potatoes of this schedule dropped balls, fumbles, and miscues are not going to cut it. Jefferson has made some improvement and as bad as I have seen him play, for any sh!thead WVU fan to come into our house, into our forum and tell us that he is TRASH, Id slap that idiot across the face if he were standing next to me! I have seen him make some much better decisions with the football, while I believe he is still learning and growing and his balls have not fallen to the point where our team can swing from them(excluding CLM), he is making plays to move the football. At this point, that is what we need from this team, HEART! – They have plenty of it. You can definitely tell that all the hard work in the off season, all the youngsters coming in and competing with the upperclassmen for their spots on the depth chart has truly paid off. I want to see some smash mouth football on Saturday. Here are my Keys to the game: All duh’s! Jefferson – He is going to have to make good decisions with the football Offensive Line – Going to have to put those 3 up front 3 yards backwards on every running play, get past them and make downfield blocks as well WR’s – NO DROPPED PASSES K-Shep – Your assignment is Noel Devine – watch the draw, watch the screens CB’s – Need lock down coverage on WVU’s WR’s Drake – Picture Geno Smith’s head as a big Chocolate Chip Cookie. – Eat him up! Blitz packages – We need to bring them often and mix them up often. I want to see Chavis bring at least 5 different looks at them with speed and power!
Good post, sucks I gave you rep last, or I would have done it again! :thumb: Anyway, I do not doubt for a second that are players give us 100%. I know the D trys so hard every play, even if its a bust. Same for the O, I even believe Miles feels the same and for those reasons alone, this will be a great season with some great games!!! :geaux:
Thanks I am PUMPED - Especially for tomorrow. I posted this on the Game Thread, but its got me so excited I am going to post it here as well: From everything that I have read on LSU news this week, WVU's big win over Maryland has helped LSU prepare even more for WVU. They had a huge game thru the air, so our secondary is preparing tough, Our D-Line is preparing tough to stop Devine, and put loads of pressure on Geno. Our O-Line is Preparing even tougher because of WVU's 8 sacks last weekend. Committing to not let JJ hit the ground!!
I agree with the sentiments of LSU_4_LIFE. The team has heart and a desire to win. That first scare in the UNC game was a wake up call to their discipline as a balance to their heart. They have to have both and I think the UNC scare helped. The way our offense kept coming back and running it hard in the 4th quarter and the way our second string D lineman come in and terrorized the tired O-line of the other team. Lots of heart and getting more and more disciplined. I think that the story of this game is going to be our Offense lighting them up. An overpowering balanced attack that will keep them guessing. Our O-line is NOT Maryland, Marshall, or Charleston Sisters of the Blind. This is a TOUGH SEC O-line that stuck it to some tough defenses already. I just don't see WVU being prepared for it. The fourth quarter will be ours!
I love this D-Line this year. When our offense has the ball, the entire defense is together on sidelines sharing the weakness & strengths of the offense and how to attack, not only sharing this with Chavis to help him call his blitz packages but sharing this with each other, tag teaming these offenses has been beautiful! I hope to see even more improvements than we saw from UNC to Vandy & Vandy to Moo U. Comparing the defense from UNC to Moo U is ridiculous. One thing I will mention, is we still have some gaps in our zone defense. When Russell came in and actually had time to throw he found some gaps, which is a good thing, it gives our defense something to work harder at fixing.
good point, and that's why it's good to start the year off against quality opponents rather than rent-a-wins.
