Ok guys, here's what I know about LaTech: They're 3-6 on the season, but 5 of those losses have come to teams who'll be playing in bowl games (@Auburn, @Navy, @Nevada, @Idaho and vs Boise St). They lost by 2 points to Utah State and by 1 point to Idaho. They trailed Auburn 13-10 at halftime. LaTech is a pretty good team at home, but not so tough on the road. Their stud RB Daniel Porter (from Baton Rouge, LA) rushed for 1,100+ yards last year an 9TDs. For this year he has over 700 yards and 8 TDs. Their KR/PR/WR Philip Livas is a stud too, but he's been slowed down by a turf toe, or an ankle sprain the last few weeks. They won the Independence Bowl last year and returned the entire offensive line. They're averaging 173 yards rushing per game and 191 passing. :crystal::geaux::crystal::geaux::crystal:
I expect this to be a tough game for several reasons: 1.) Last week's game vs Bama took a lot out of us physically and emotionally 2.) This ain't a bad Tech team 3.) I'm not sure our guys will be nearly as hungry as Tech. They have to win out to become bowl eligible. So, whatever the point spread is- take Tech. No way LSU covers. :crystal::geaux::crystal::geaux::crystal:
he played high school ball about 4 miles from here. my wife's cousin was on the team during that same stretch. dude doesn't have "it" when the game is on the line. in fact, he called it before Livas let a go ahead touchdown pass bounce off his shoulder against Boise the other night. said point blank. "Tech fans should hope Livas doesn't come back in this game. 50 bucks says if he has a chance to make a play, he'll either miss the pass, or trip in the open field during a return. Happens every time he's in that spot" less than half a beer later, Livas got behind everyone, and missed one.
I remember the last time we played them, and Jacob Hester went 87 yards untouched through the middle of their defense. I vowed never to go to an LSU-LaTech game again. I don't expect them to roll over, but I would be shocked if Troy pt. II happens. I think an underwhelming first half might be in order, but by the end we'll win big. 45-14, Tigers.
I'm thinking that Boise State loss on national TV was as big a crusher for them as Bama was for us. A wash?
We can't take anyone lightly. One game at a time. That said, I think we'll be ready to play. :geauxtige
maybe, but I would think playing in Tiger Stadium against LSU is reason to get fired up if you're on their sideline.
We need to pound La Tech badly with a reserve quarterback and a reserve running back to demonstrate to the voters the difference between the SEC top tier and Boise State. We can't let those boys crowd us out of a BCS bowl game.
I see this game being very similar to the 2007 game. Close for the first half and then we blow it open in the second. They have the athletes to hand around for a while, but not the depth to go the distance.:geaux: :LSU231:
