I think it's our first Louisiana recruit ever. EFFNER, Fla. -- The tiny red band around his left wrist symbolizes everything. It symbolizes Lance Tillison leaving Slidell, La., in August with Hurricane Katrina bearing down on the Gulf Coast city. It symbolizes the complete destruction of his hometown, the washing away of his home, his high school and his dreams of winning a state title with childhood friends. It symbolizes landing in a different time zone and trying to find a new school where he could find acceptance and an opportunity to earn a college scholarship. It symbolizes leaving a place where the Iowa football program likely never would've found him and winding up on the outskirts of Tampa at Armwood High School -- a regular stop on the Hawkeye recruiting trail. It symbolizes going from being unable to name a player on the Iowa roster four months ago to anxiously awaiting Monday's Outback Bowl at Raymond James Stadium, where the Hawkeyes play Florida while Tillison tunes in a few miles away at his new home. The tiny red band around his left wrist symbolizes where Lance Tillison has been, where he is now and where he's headed -- to join the Iowa program next year. "You don't have to be a rocket scientist to figure out how good a football player this kid is going to be," Armwood coach Sean Callahan said. "He could play safety, corner or receiver in the Big Ten. He broke his foot this year and didn’t play until the playoffs. He would be a four star recruit had he played all year. Iowa has a diamond in the rough.” Have any of you heard of this kid? He is a typical "under the radar" Iowa recruit... We promise to take good care of him. He's now FAMILY!!
Byline: Seffner, Florida Maybe this kid went over to a beach near Tampa? http://mb15.scout.com/fufinsiderfrm5.showMessage?topicID=29324.topic
I would have to say that he may very well be a high quality hidden prospect. A coach in the Brandon, Florida area isn't going to say that he is a, "diamond in the rough," unless he can really play well.
