The old coot was right in the end. And I don't remember any other talking head saying anything about Jefferson and the effect he would have on this game. We were left for dead with Lee in the game. He had that deer in the headlights look like that of 2008 again, unfortunately.
Lou is also now complaining that LSU won on a field goal and says the offense had to do nothing to win it. What about Ford running it down into chip shot field goal range? What about our defense and/or Alabama's ineptness in being UNABLE to capitalize on their possession in overtime. C'mon Lou.
He also said the Reid interception should have been called a catch by the Bama player. So, he's still ultimately a crazy idiot, but he was right about Jefferson.
I was starting to think something of it until he said the Reid thing. Sheer dumb luck about Jefferson on his part IMO.
No I think he was onto something and nailed it. Had Jefferson not been available tonight, we would have certainly lost. Lee was going to be useless all night long. He lost all the confidence he had built up in 8 games in just 2 passes (both interceptions). He was done for the night. Enter Jefferson. Thank goodness we had him.
F him. Many of us talked about Jordan being a big factor, but I thought it would come in the form of him passing more. He got more passes and completions in that last drive in regulation where we came up empty, and he launched the only long completion we had tonight. His versatility was just enough to give us barely enough points to pull this out. 'Bama had their opportunities, couldn't convert, and the LSU defense stuffed them on our side of the field. The end. Nothing else to say about that, Gump!
Question is,will you need Lee sometime in the future too? Or is this back to being Jeffersons team? Does Les make JJ the starter and bring back lee slowly to help his confidence?
I'm happy with the win and certainly am not going to argue, but Jefferson didn't do anything either in the game. Special teams and defense won this game, period.
