I HATE it as much as the next Tiger fan, but CBS pays hundreds of milliions of dollars a year for SEC broadcast rights, so they make the rules. Would you rather have a night game, yet be excluded from the revenue the TV contracts bring to each member school? That money is what allows us to stay competitive. Exactly. On top of the money, look at the national exposure we're getting. I realize a night game on ESPN brings exposure too, but not like the 2:30 CBS time slot.
A double-edged sword for sure. I think what most fans are saying is that LSU should be able to have at least one conference night game. :geauxtige
Now that's a different story. Hard to argue against it because it seems reasonable and do-able enough.
How is it doable? Do you think CBS & the SEC are going to make an exception for LSU? If they could then they would have to make an exception for everyone else.
If the Tennessee game was in BR they would. No one wants to see that lopsided shyt that azzwhoopin is gonna be.
Eff CBS and all their damn commericals. I mean, it's like if a guy farts they've got to cut away for 15 commericals until the stink clears. I prefer ESPN, who will at least let teams play back-to-back possessions without breaking away. And screw the 3:30 start while you're at it.
Different topic, but I wonder if there is any way CBS could or would move the BAMA game to prime time. It will be THE GAME of the season.
Take note that CBS obviously prefers to show LSU on its nationwide broadcast over Bama. How many weeks will LSU be the 1st choice over some other SEC school? Until ESPN ponies up CBS-type money for the right to choose the first SEC game, they will always get the 2nd and 3rd choice. LSU is who the college football viewership wants to see, and that's why CBS is taking us at 2:30 week-in and week-out. While we missed out on the CBS primetime game and got stuck with UK at 11:20, had we we played just about any other opponent, we may have been in either of the other 2 time slots on CBS. Just the luck of the draw for scheduling.
