Has been my favorite announcer through the years. He was interviewed today by ESPN about the Penn State sanctions being lifted, and he said it was the right thing to do and that the NCAA overstepped their bounds to begin with and that in his mind Joe Paterno is still the leader in most wins by a FBS coach. Egad. We Are Penn State trumps child molestation I guess.
Didn't he make some insensitive, stupid remarks about this time last year? It will be interesting to see if ESPN fires or suspends him.
I never thought it was right to punish the Penn State players, who did nothing wrong. But Paterno was an enabler and greatly responsible for allowing Sandusky to remain with the program long after he was aware of a problem. And the university's attempted cover-up is entirely deserving of the fines and criminal charges that they got.
I do not believe the institution nor the team/players should have been penalized. However I agree with the firing of Paterno, and I agree his accolades should be stricken from the record books. Todd Blackledge is just pissed his wins as a Penn State quarterback are gone.
Lets see...Raping boys and covering it up--Free tattoos--Favorable treatment for a players parents... ALL the same, right? Where is the justice for USC and tOSU? No leniency for them. This is the message we want to send to every other university that tries it's best to run a clean and respectable athletics program?
