a week before pitchers report it looks like its a rotator cuff or torn labrum.

Im sure they would void his one year 8 mill contract if he wasnt their hero with ketchup on the sock that broke the curse.

time to retire and stick to 38pitches.com.

schilling is the TO of baseball. talks too much and carries a sense of entitlement that is beyond annoying.

And to think I liked this guy early on with the phillies.

Awww, c'mon tirk. I expected better than that from you. It was pig's blood he used. Ketchup is WAY to sticky.

I'm not sure how much this is going to hurt the Sox this year. He hasn't been anything special the last 2 years (except having a pretty good post season last year). It does make not getting Johan a little more disturbing though. I don't know if Coco would be interested in going back to cleveland, but they should put him into some sort of package to get Sabathia. He'll be a free agent after this year, and I don't think the Tribe is going to give him the money he's gonna ask for.

nope that was made clear the moment they signed freaking westbrook which i thought was horrendous. no way will they sign both. a dude with a 4.50 era for 11 mil per for 3 or 4 more years or whatever it was over a cy young winner.

    disturbing not signing johan?

now you're simply getting greedy. the sox are still the team to beat.

Hell yeah I'm greedy! Not sure about "the team to beat" tag. Beckett is automatic in October, and Dice-K did well, but after that, you're left with 86 yeard old Wakefield who has a bas back, Lester who is average, and Bocholtz who I think will be a stud, but I'm not sure he's there yet (unless he keeps tossing no-nos). Other than that, who else are they gonna trot out there?

im going with the new england patriots theory now. i trust those in charge over of the sox over all the rest. Im not even concerned with whom is on the roster.

Once the deadline passes they will be the ones to beat. them and the mets/dbacks I would imagine.

dan haren brandon webb and randy johnson is a nice 3 headed monster out west.

as opposed to let's say the astros--oswalt, garbage and worse garbage.

Not sure how bad this will hurt the Sox. They'll be forced to bring Buchholtz into the rotation a little quicker than they would have wanted. It could turn out great as he has loads of potential. They'll have Beckett, Dice-K, Lester, and Wakefield to lean on. If there are any other injuries, or Buchholtz proves to be too green, things could get rough. We'll see, but I don't think it will end up costing them a playoff birth (although that's not out of the realm of possibility).

I don't really like Schilling a ton for all of the reasons listed above, but I still hate to see one of the better pitchers of my time have to go out like this.

I hope he can come back.

I know. Theo has done a hell of a job putting this team on the top of the mountain. I'm just a little uneasy about losing a quality starter without a plan B. Bedard probably wasn't a real option since the O's likely wanted him out of the division. Now Johan's off the blocks as well. Don't who else is out there that won't cost the farm.

The plan was to rotate Bucholtz in and out of the rotation to give him experience, and to spell Lester and Wakefield. That doesn't appear to be an option anymore.

can bucholz win 8-10 games as a 5th starter? if so he equals what schilling has averaged the last couple of years, the intangibles not withstanding.
