This article suggests that the Miles contract clause was a big reason we didn't get Aranda last year. Also contains more glowing reviews of Aranda's ability. http://www.nola.com/lsu/index.ssf/2016/01/lsu_defensive_class_will_soon.html
http://www.nola.com/lsu/index.ssf/2...e_aranda_expla.html#incart_river_mobile_index Dinardo interviews Aranda about his philosophy in regard to rushing the passer. Good stuff and a preview of what we'll be seeing next season.
I do think it was a great hire for LSU and I would have loved to get him out West. However, I wouldn't use that game as a solid example. We basically suck at so many aspects of offense this year. We are down to our 3rd and 4th stringers on the oline and the guys who were still healthy were switching positions almost every week. There is a reason we are 104th in the country for sacks allowed and Kessler cannot perform under pressure. Congrats on the win though. Always preferable to a loss.
USC has more talent on their scout team than Wisconsin has. Still the SEC will be a change for him, but good coaching is good coaching. I think he'll do well with LSUs talent. I don't think he will churn out a top 5 defense overnight. He has to get more depth at both DL and LB.
Feldman is reporting 3 years at 1.3 per with an escalation clause. Let's just say that's accurate....how does that fit in with the 2-year miles clause and with the pay of other staff? And what is the 2-year miles clause?
It's being reported their is no "Les Miles" clause included in Aranda's contract. I'm sure the rest of the LSU staff have already contacted their agents.
Hey, folks. Dave and I go back quite a ways. Over a decade ago, I taught him the basics of the 3-4, 4-3, 4-2-5, 2-3-6, and 1-1-9 defenses. He was a real sponge, and a very nice young man. At the end of our tutoring sessions, he would always call me "Master." So, I was having a milkshake with Dave after Wisconsin beat USC in the Holiday Bowl. He was happy with the victory but told me he may have reached his ceiling in the Land of Cheese. I gave Les a call and told him to kick Steele to the curb and hire my man Dave as DC. And, voila! I still have quite a bit of pull in Tigerland. Hope you guys are happy with the new coach I arranged for you. Happy New Year! Sincerely, Curley H.
I wonder. You just can't pick-and-choose who gets the "Les Miles clause" and who doesn't. Unless, you want to lose those who are getting screwed financially.
