I've been reading everything in print about the LSU football team since the ugly regular season ended. And I've been keeping an open mind about the Tigers' chances of beating a hot and hungry Georgia Tech team, with a hard-to-stop triple-option offensive attack, in their back yard no less.

Really, though, there's nothing out there that indicates anything has changed since the day after Thanksgiving, on which we witnessed perhaps the most deplorable LSU loss since the Jamie Howard debacle at Auburn in 1994.

Rumors, rumors, rumors about potential coaching changes. And players saying the bowl game is about "pride." But the Ole Miss game was about "pride" too. And the Arkansas game.

James Varney of the Times-Picayune unabashedly reported that defensive players sniped at each other on the sidelines in Little Rock for purposely tanking.

And there can be no doubt that CLM has zero confidence in his "young" QBs utilizing a full offensive playbook for four quarters. This just in: the last two Heisman winners were "young" QBs, too.

I'm just looking for a bright spot. Because if my gut is right, LSU could get embarrassed on New Year's Eve. And theirs is the only game on TV that day. Recruitment, and thus the future of LSU football, could suffer. :tigerhead

I recommend you share your concerns with a few auto workers who are about to lose their jobs. They might give you a little perspective.

Ah yes, the absurd non-sequitur. My favorite of a long list of logical fallacies you continually use in your TF posts. :nope:

Just trying to help. I'm picturing you hunched over in your chair, hands clasped at the floor and shuddering in fear over the possibility that LSU will lose the bowl game.

Come on. I love my team, but am not obsessed with it. :helmet:

I think we'll see a pretty good offense on the field with Jefferson having a good bit of time to develop leading up to the bowl game.

My concern is of course defense. I think that our defense will improve simply because our offense improves - I just don't know if it will be enough.

I like the fact that we get plenty of prep time to scheme for their offense.

Well. I saw a couple of things in that Arkansas game that has me at least a little optimistic. One is the play of Jordan Jefferson and two is the fact that LSU's defense completely flat lined in the second half, but after they were quite effective in the first (mostly the second quarter.) That may not be much of an sign of optimism, but to me it shows that these guys CAN play defense. Now why it was only one quarter of defense, I don't know, but I think with a few weeks of preparation, we can beat GT. We could've beat Alabama and Georgia as well. And if you take away "gift points," we did beat them. But that doesn't erase the fact that we got schooled by Florida (national champions,) Ole Miss (who beat Florida) and Arkansas (no words.) LSU really isn't as bad as their record indicates, which is why we're playing in the Peach Bowl. Yeah five losses are hard to swallow, with this much talent, but I feel that we can beat GT. But it's how the players feel that matters.

This game is really hard to call. LSU definitely has the advantage in talent if they can just put together 60 minutes of solid football. They don't have to play perfect but much better than they have been. I think the offense will be much improved, but the option that I saw against Gawga worries me. You get out of position like LSU has been all year on D and those backs will go the distance. I think the pressure is on the coaching staff and they will be working like never before. I wouldn't bet a penny on the game but I like our chances of winning given the time the coaching staff has had to prepare.

I don't feel very good about our chances to win. We've looked flat out terrible for a while. What changes have been made? None yet that we can see.

I'm uncertain about this game too. It could be a wonderful redemption game if our Tigers go in to ATL, play well and pull off a nice WIN.

Or, it could be another terrible, undisciplined effort, which would make for a long off-season.

I'm sure we can win. Just hope to see a solid effort, and improvement on Defense.
