Hey fellas, coming from PA and heading to my first LSU game against Florida. I'll be heading up from New Orleans sat. morning. Just looking for advice on how early to leave for the game and how bad traffic may be. I know at PSU the traffic starts at harrisburg 100 miles out on those 2 lane roads. Also wanted to see what is worth seeing and doing on campus. Finally I'm heading there without a ticket, so just looking to see how the environment is for buying outside the stadium. I'm sure I'll pay a good amount so I'm not too worried bout that. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. thanks guys
You just had to pick the biggest single regular season game to be your first. :hihi: It's gonna be very tough trying to get tickets to Florida from scalpers. Normally you could just take a stroll around the stadium and find any number of people selling tickets. For this one, you're gonna have a lot more trouble locating them. If you're going alone you may have better luck finding a single ticket. If you can find sellers online I'd suggest trying that first since you may well come away emptyhanded otherwise. Traffic will be horrendous, you can take it to the bank. If you've never been here on a game day, there are very few roads into and out of the area with even scarcer parking. I would easily try to at least double that 2-hour pregame time to find decent parking around the stadium. (It's a prime-time game, so you'll have some time.) But once you're there, you'll find a ton of tailgaters who will be more than happy to part with some food and booze before the game, especially the established crews. Just walk around and introduce yourself and there's a good time to be had literally everywhere. You'll definitely enjoy it. If all else fails and you can't get into the stadium I'd recommend heading over to the Chimes to watch the game. It's a very popular bar/restaurant just outside of campus (15-20 minute walk from the stadium). Great party atmosphere there too.
yeah i figured it would be tough and unfortunately it'll be two of us. Well I'll probably try to get down there bout 11am or so and see what's going on as far as the ticket scene. Hopefully we'll get lucky. I figured at almost every sporting event someone will be trying to make a profit.
If it ends up being an afternoon game, 2:30 or so, then the last thing you will want to do is arrive for 11am. 8am at the latest.
The last I heard CBS has it locked in as a prime-time game at 7pm CST. It's possible they could move it to afternoon, but that's not very likely.
Well I see quite a few available in the 600 sections and a couple in the end zone 400 sections for bout $220. Do you think it would be wise to lock that in and have some piece of mind or head down and attempt to do better?
BMF-Regards from another LSU fan in Pennsylvania. I won't be going to LSU this season for a game. The next time I'll definately be there will be the WVU/LSU game the following season. However, there are times when I get an offer I can't refuse and wind up in Tiger Stadium with friends. Usually spend the approaching hours before the game in the Pastime Lounge. There's been VERY few times that I've sat in the Pastime without at least one offer of some tickets, even the biggest games. So, my suggestion is that if you don't secure tickets prior to the game, spend the last 2 hours at the Pastime, probobly getting your tickets there and if not,,,,,,it's a great venue to watch it on the tube and have some great food. Just my suggestion. -Charlie :geaux:
