Well for this old Tiger it started with Pepsodent Paul who said he would never leave LSU and then … From a May 1962 edition of Sports Illustrated: And that was when about all we had for bowls was the Rose, Cotton, Sugar and Orange!!! ldskule:
Good points. "We have to play four quarters to win". That was Saban's favorite statement...I believe he left that legacy with us. We've learned to play four quarters every game. That's why I'm not worried about the big Blue.
Might as well say Gaynell Tinsley. Dietzel skipped town. Cholly Mac spent 16 years making LSU into a perennial national brand.
Yes indeed. Coach Mac. Loved to go to Georgia and play “behind the bushes”. I think he started coaching at Kentucky as an assistant under the Bear. Great coach. ldskule:
My philosophy has always been that LSU is such a great University with such passionate fans and a rich resource of incredibly talented athletes that it's LSU that made the coaches successful, not the other way around. Only a great combination of FOOLS like Joe Dean and Curley Hallman were powerful enough in their collective stupidity to tear down a great football program for 6 years. We've just been rebuilding ever since. Now we see the fruit.
