Since I did it with the 2006 class, I thought we could go back and look at Miles' first class. It was his first season, and with Saban abandoning the Tigers, I imagine that it hurt the recruiting. We didn't have nearly as many commits. Ricky Jean-Francois - Showed promise last season, but has done next to nothing this season. Ryan Perrilloux - Bust extraordinaire R.J. Jackson - Another WR converted from RB who is buried on the depth chart Trindon Holliday (actually an '05 recruit, not '06) - good special teams player; marginal success on the offense Brandon LaFell - Has been somewhat inconsistent over the last couple of seasons with catching the ball, but seems to really improve as each season progresses. Alfred Jones - Now known as Rahim Alem; has shown loads of promise and is arguably the best DL on the team. Steven Korte - No longer with team Ciron Black - Has been solid thus far Kyle Anderson - Dismissed from team in 2007 Chris Hawkins - Has shown some promise, but gets burned often Antonio Robinson - Left LSU because of a lack of playing time; has done absolutely nothing at Northwestern State Lyle Hitt - Has played decent; was pulled in game against Ole Miss Derry Beckwith - Had solid sophomore season, but has been hampered with injuries every since; a healthier senior season has been disappointing
I agree he's had a disappointing season, but wasn't he injured again at the beginning of this season? Perhaps against UNT? I still think that injuries have been his biggest problem.
yes he was injured, we didnt have him for at least 2 games. Injuries has been his problems, other than that he is a decent linebacker. I agree with the rest on the list.
It's hard to judge this class as Miles only had around six weeks from the time he was hired until national signing day.
Then I stand corrected about injuries. Still, even healthy, he's been unimpressive. Has he been injured the whole season? And I don't think this group should take as much scrutiny as the 2006 class should because Miles didn't have a lot of time.
unimpressive would be the word I would use as well. His tackling has left alot to be desired. That Knowshon Moreno run just exemplified his effort this year.
The 2005 class was part Saban, part Miles. 6 of the 13 were Saban, 7 of the 13 were Miles. From an article by sportswriter Creg Stephnson: "The 2005 class, Miles’ first, was hurt partly by Saban’s departure and partly because it contained only 13 signees due to a small senior class the previous season. Six of those 13 signees from the 2005 class committed to LSU before Saban left for the NFL’s Miami Dolphins the day after the Capital One Bowl (he had announced his departure on Christmas Day). Among those 2005 signees who committed under Saban were three starters: offensive linemen Lyle Hitt and Ciron Black and linebacker Darry Beckwith. Miles brought in some big-time talent on his own, including back-up quarterback Ryan Perrilloux, who was rated the No. 2 player in the nation coming out of high school. Perrilloux was committed to Texas for several months before switching to LSU on signing day. Miles also found a gem in pint-sized wide receiver Trindon Holliday, a 2-star prospect when he signed who is now a valuable situational and special-teams weapon. Brandon LaFell, currently the Tigers’ leading receiver, also committed after Miles’ arrival. Though Saban probably targeted some of them during his time in Baton Rouge, Miles has to get almost all the credit for the 2006 and 2007 signing classes." http://alabama.scout.com/a.z?s=14&p...tedURL=http://alabama.scout.com/2/697419.html
