or should I say a chance to play over buried on the bench? :hihi: Longview running back picks Texas over LSU By TODD WILLS / The Dallas Morning News 03:00 AM CST on Tuesday, March 29, 2005 Longview running back Vondrell McGee (5-9, 185) said he has orally committed to Texas, picking the Longhorns over LSU. Oral commitments are nonbinding. >>Link to article. (Nothing else really there to see)
After this year, LSU's RB situation becomes more of a question. AB could leave early, JA is gone will b gone... that leave JV and some as yet untested guys... So i wouldnt say buried on the bench.. more like lots of competition.
This guy loved LSU before Saban left and then changed to UT. But I don't see where Miles had offered yet. He may have been planning to though, the guy does appear to be a good one.
We've got some quality running backs sitting in the wings right now, they are all just untested. I imagine we'll pick up atleast one really good running back next year and one decent one.
If AB rushes for 1000 yards, is he a first round pick? Someone needs to ask Mike Detilier. I am impressed with borh RJ JAckson and ARob and I think JV wil be back, so I am not worried. Plus next years recruits that Les might sign like Richard Murphy and Chris Brown.
LSU runningbacks dont go in the first round. Just not gonna happen. People will call it system yards or some bullsh*t like that..
PLEASE! What is this, some "everybody hates on LSU" theory? This is ridiculous. We've got a new coach & a new system, how do you know people will say that it's going to be system yards??? If Broussard gets 1,000 yards he probably won't be a first round pick next year. As impressive as it would be, that's still only one year with those kind of numbers. He's got to prove himself. If he comes back for his senior year & gets another thousand then he'll be in serious contention for the first round draft to the NFL.
cparso, have to agree, I sure don't think there is any hidden agenda against LSU players at any position, whew. However, I also don't think the yards have as much to do with it as the production they get when they do touch the ball. I don't think 1000 yards is a magic number by any means, especially if LSU uses 4 RB's all season long. I think it may help one of them if they do get the majority of carries and pound out 1500 yards but I just don't think that will happen.
Agree. NFL personnel people, with the possible exception of the Aints, don't look at stats so much as they view tape and live action (combines, etc.). JMO by the way.
While they may not go entirely on stats or school's reputation, a 2nd string QB learning under Norm Chow at USC is without a doubt given more weight than he would otherwise get. It's not really a matter of what school, but what he may have learned and from who he learned it at a particular school...so in a way, they do look at what school you come from.
