I do, as well. UT really needed to drill OSU to get in the discussion. It will turn into a non-issue, though the winner of the BCSNCG had better hope they win in convincing fashion because of USC love.
OU lost to Texas and Texas lost to Texas Tech. It seems the loss to Texas is the better of those two losses.
and in no way or fashion CAN it trump head to head I would vote Texas my number 1 team if OU beats Florida Thursday.
I say let Texas and USC battle it out, since Carroll and Mack Brown both seem to like running their mouths about how their programs are the best in the country in spite of a BCS NC game not even played yet. Even Mark Richt only argued that UGA should be in the NC game last year, not that they were the best in the country hands down. Politicking is fine and good prior to the bowl selections. Doing so after the fact in the hopes of a split NC is just tacky IMO.
I really believe Florida is the best team, but that is 1 SEC homer's opinion. I have felt this way about 2 games after their loss to Ole Miss. However, this year would have been the perfect year to impelement a playoff, and here's why: All records prior to Bowl games.... 1.) Florida at 12-1 and winners of SEC deserve a shot 2.) OU at 12-1 and winners of BIG 12 deserve a shot 3.) Texas at 11-1 beat Oklahoma 4.) USC at 11-1 won the Big 12 and whipped 10-2 Ohio State 5.) Alabama at 12-1 was #1 for a long time, lost heartbreaker to Florida 6.) Penn State at 11-1 was the Big 10 Champs and whipped 10-2 Ohio St 7.) Texas Tech at 11-1 beat #3 Texas 8.) Utah at 12-0 had beaten Michigan, TCU and BYU 9.) Boise St at 12-0 had beaten Oregon St Now, take away your emotional attachment to the region/ conference you follow the closest and with the most interest, and look at each team's accomplishments. Take any 8 of these teams, because all of them have very impressive records and credentials, try to decide how to seed these teams. And remember, these are the 8 or 9 best teams in the country at season's end, and we left out 2 major conference champions- Virginia Tech and Cincinnatti. IMO, USC, Utah and Texas have legitimate gripes at this time. :crystal::geaux::crystal::geaux::crystal:
I feel you on the playoff sentiments, but did you really just use Utah's beating of 3-9 Michigan as a reason they deserve a shot? A better one would have been their win over Oregon State, which beat USC.
Ahh...give em all a trophy. I don't see how you can honestly lobby for your team when you aren't in the championship game. I understand Texas' slight but it is what it is.
