Football is as American as apple pie. I'd be sad if the Super Bowl were held outside of the U.S.

It's a cute idea to have a game or two a year @ Wembley, like the Saints did last year, but also think of all of the tourism money that an American city would be missing out on! Outsourcing at its worst.

    awesome!
can't wait until the draft is held in Tokyo, and the hall of Fame is in Paris.
Hopefully, they can eventually have 32 tteams play their entire home schedule overseas.

Well why not Beijing? It would be much cheaper and they have barely used Olympic facilities. :(

Serious, the notion of a game across any pond would be the biggest sell out ever. I personally think the Super Bowl should be played in San Diego for the rest of eternity. :thumb:

I think you're both a little naive in thinking that the leagues cares about anything other than it's own bottom line. From stadium financing that leaves cities millions of dollars in the hole (lucas oil stadium) to taking away home games from freakin' New Orleans, it has been clear for some time what the NFL's priority is. And it's nothing they should be ashamed of. They are business, the goal is to make money. :yelwink2:

Which is why this move should not really be unexpected. For years the NFL has seen their own revenues eclipsed by single teams in european soccer leagues. And they want a piece of that worldwide marketing and licensing pie.

That said, I don't think they will be successful. I believe soccer just has too large of a fan base that is even more fanatically devoted to their teams than we are. Let's face it, it's been almost a decade since some team had a decent riot for winning the super bowl, European soccer fans will injure hundreds just for winning on a tuesday...

excellent way to put it. i would hope that if the nfl ever did that, it would end up costing them money from the fans here.

this would be an absolute travesty. that would be like bringing the EUEFA Cup here to the states. Roger Godell is the anti christ.
