I'm just glad the LB who playing DE decided to crash the QB on that play, JJ doesn't run it well when the defense strings out.
The option play works as part of a larger script of plays. When your entire offense is the option you lack the imagination in play calling to fool the defense. They bring up the safeties and snuff it out. You can't have an offense entirely based on option football in the sec. Look at what we did to ga tech when we played them. They played option football and we killed them. There must be more to your offense than the option.
OH yueah ... I agree. We put up some yards on the ground. 150 yards on the #1 rushing defense. ... and we got all of 3 points for all those yards. We can thank Claiborne for the second 3 points, as the FP off the interception was good enough for a FG after the 3-out. We can thank Montomery for the win, as his sack is what put Bama's pathetic kicking game out of range. Don't get me wrong .. I love the option as a change of pace. It a right down great play. JJ and Ford executed the last one perfectly, and had Ford not gone out of bounds [dang it], it would have been a TD. But I'm not jumping on the band wagon that our offense turned is some sort of stellar performance last weekend. And, as I've noted a time or two, I'm not sure it was the players faults, as much as it was the game plan. It seemed you had these two giants, both decided to run "through" each other just to prove they could. If CLM gets a rematch, he might want to consider stepping aside and letting the other guy fall flat on his face.
The problem is we didn't do it enough this time. JJ was averaging about 4 yards a pop and Ford over 6, meanwhile Ware was getting stuffed every single time and we still gave it to him 16 times.
The strong side of the offense is the side where the tight end is lined up. It's "strong" because there is an extra blocker/receiver who often attracts the "strong" safety. But a line can be strong to either the long side or the short side of the field.

You may be right. Ol Slobbering Lou said he though JJ and the option would give the Bama D fits. Turns out, it was our highest percentage play. As you said .. .should a run it more. Had we run it more, the score may have looked a lot better than 6-6 at the end of the game, and Bama would not be able to say squat.
Well, the game was clearly going in a direction where each team maybe had 2 times to score a TD. LSU's big one was the JJ pass to Shep when JJ under-threw him causing Shep to get zero yards after the catch.. The option was a nice call on Bama, though I am not sure more times wouold have made the difference.
