This is definately a trend we want to see. Of course that is prefaced by, as long as the opposition isn't making 1st down, only needing 2 downs.
We've only had two games so calm down boys. Hopefully this trend will continue. Although we kind of have a small sample size right now.
yeah i still contend that when LSU was winning championships it was because they were great on 3rd downs on both off and def. many other factors this year including depth on the D line enables rotation of fresh legs. sheppard is great but LB's need to get a little better in pass coverage. some of the youth will show but plenty to be excited about after two games especially the sack total.
It'll be an interesting matchup this weekend to see if the LSU D can dominate State's running game. It'll definitely be a step up in competition, so if they continue this trend we may have the real deal.
