LSU leads the SEC in this category keeping teams and a 19.44% and 7th in the nation.

I sure hope this is a sign of things to come!

This is definately a trend we want to see. Of course that is prefaced by, as long as the opposition isn't making 1st down, only needing 2 downs.

    Good point.

LSU is 3rd in the SEC in allowing first downs and 20th in the nation.

We've only had two games so calm down boys. Hopefully this trend will continue. Although we kind of have a small sample size right now.

yeah i still contend that when LSU was winning championships it was because they were great on 3rd downs on both off and def.

many other factors this year including depth on the D line enables rotation of fresh legs. sheppard is great but LB's need to get a little better in pass coverage. some of the youth will show but plenty to be excited about after two games especially the sack total.

Good thing we can accurately judge these stats from two games featuring powerhouse opponents.

It'll be an interesting matchup this weekend to see if the LSU D can dominate State's running game. It'll definitely be a step up in competition, so if they continue this trend we may have the real deal.
