Hi. I'm starting a project I hope will benefit everyone, if it's not abused. I'm going to try to compile a list of good college football fan forums. The criteria for inclusion are:

    1. The forum in question is recognized by a given team's fans as being the best/most mature/most knowledgeable/most used and visited fan forum for that team; and

    2. (Hopefully) the forum is not the creature of a commercial organization (such as a newspaper or a sporting goods organization) or a major sports news organization such as rivals, espn, takkle, etc. If such a forum is still the best one for a given team, I'll use it - but I'd prefer not to.

I don't necessarily have that many to start, but I'm going to add suggestions to the OP as they are made. Thanks to everyone for your help.

WeAreSC used to be a Scout site member but the owner left Scout and while the site is considered an affiliate of ESPN, it is not run by ESPN but by the owner/publisher Garry Paskwietz (he founded WeAreSC in 1998, is a USC alum, and has won 5 Emmy's producing high school sports shows). The articles on the site are written by employees of WeAreSC, not ESPN and are all SoCal locals. The recruiting articles in particular are top notch and the rest of the editorial staff (including the photographer) are a very experienced and knowledgeable group.

The Scout site is now called USCPlaybook. I think it's incredibly difficult to say which site the fans overwhelmingly approve but if traffic is an indication, it's not even close. WeAreSC wins by a landslide. This thread alone, has close to 90,000 views.

I think you'll have a difficult time finding sites with content that are NOT in some way tied to a larger/commercial organization.
