My wife and I want to kill our neighbor and take his pool. Should we be able to maek that decision. I mean, what does some cogressmen know about our life.
yes there is, the mother speaks for the baby or fetus, whats the alternative, have the child and society forces baby into adoption because the mother doesnt seem fit. Is that the next step. How much say does society have in the manner of the child, school choice if they dont like the mothers decision, clothing food, etc, where should it end?
thats idioitic bro and you know it. you are stanch in your view that the fetus is a person and quoting Koop does nothing to convince me of your view.
Ok, so give me a scientific basis that an embryo is not a human being from the moment of conception. That is the point in time when a unique strand of DNA comes into being, and starts exhibiting all the textbook hallmarks of life such as consuming and expending energy, maintaining homeostasis, growing, organization of structure, responding to stiumli, and adapting to environment. If Koop's testimony that the medical necessity of an abortion is a myth, maybe a look at the reasons behind abortion would enlighten you. 98% of abortions are elective. Two percent are for health of the mother issues, rape, or incest. And since health of the mother can mean anything from not likeing morning sickness to a severe life threatening condition, the percentage is slightly overstated.
im not thrilled about abortion, but its not congress' business. also, at conception doesnt fly with me because it cant survive or grow without the mother.
That is true until 3-5 years. A world famous medical ethicist from Oxford has already argued that infanticide should be legal because infants in the first weeks of life or no more self aware than babies aborted in the late last trimester. Link Any point beyond conception is completely arbitrary. Conception is very clearly when human life begins, and government's principle mission is to protect innocent life. You can throw every argument about the difference between a human being and a person, and I say keep your philosophical poppy cock. Show me something of scientific merit that could make me think a baby isn't a person. Shit man. Even Dr. Seuss knows a person is a person, no matter how small.
I can give you the example. It is not until the embryo is implanted in the womb that it can be viable. Remember there are ectopic pregnancies where the fertilized egg isn't in the womb. Also many fertilized eggs never are successfully implanted. It is sort of like the parable of the seeds. Seeds cast on stone ground don't grow. After that then the argument that an embryo has a shot a becoming human is accurate. I don't argue that abortion can be considered killing a life. It isn't pretty but neither is so much else in life. We need to deal with the tough questions. That is why I tend to go along with early abortion even though I know it is more for convenience than anything else. Likewise the only late term abortion I would allow is where the fetus has such massive issues that life after birth in any meaningful form would not happen. Cancer lack of a cerebellum or other genetic issues come to mind. That may offer comfort to a family rather than allowing the suffering of the baby dying without hope. There are also a very few real medical issues a mother can have thet make the sacrifice of the baby necessary such as cancer or high blood pressure. That is why I cannot be an absolutist on this issue.
