Is it possible that the lack of adjustment is because we don't have much depth? From what I gather, we really don't have much at LB after the two starters and are thin on the defensive line. It seems to me that limits any adjustments.
Linebacker is extremely thin. After Jones and Beckwith we have some special teams dudes disguised as linebackers. Lamar Louis, Ronnie Fiest, Duke Riley, maybe Devin Voorhies is good as he gets older, and Donnie Alexander. That's basically it, the kicker is, Jones, Fiest, Louis, all seniors, Beckwith potentially gone after this season meaning LSU could be playing freshmen at every linebacker position next season if Alexander, Riley and Voorhies don't step their game up. And Riley is a junior and looks lost when he plays linebacker, Alexander and Voorhies are sophomores.
Some very good points; I tend to disagree 100% with those saying Steele isn't maing adjustments. I've seen myriad formations, coverages, substitutions, etc. Youth has hurt us at times as well as a lack of talent or just mind numbing mistakes. I'm not sold on Steele by any means but I have to believe that many made their minds up as soon as he was hired and are not giving him a fair chance. When the season washes out we can all look back and see the total result of Steele's hire. As of this point in the season I think he has done just as good as our last DC. Maybe even better for such early season games.
yeah but its like your mom setting you up with her best friends daughter. not interested. we didnt want steele and nothing he does is going to sell us outside of a top 10 defense. its just a hard sell. and O can do no wrong. just how its going to be for the most part. im willing to withhold judgment til alabama provided they slow down wky enough to win the game. its very likely his lack of depth esp at LB is preventing him from running ideal schemes.
