i'm sure there were boos directed toward jefferson, i'm not naive (or ignorant,) but it was by FAR the loudest when the fans who generally yell, scream and cheer their asses off for LSU got fed up with the play calling. but it is naive and ignorant of LSU to think that it was aimed toward players when they know damn good and well it was mainly directed toward the coaching staff's inane utilization of our offensive weapons. again, i'm not agreeing with them. i think booing is dumb, but i'm willing to bet it's the same portion of the crowd who cheer the loudest that were booing the loudest.

the coaching staff probably doesn't get to watch as much football as the rest of us do, and they probably don't get a chance to think ahead like we do. they look at their opponents one game at a time and game plan (HA!) accordingly. the average (informed) fan watches just about every televised game and realizes that if LSU continues to approach games offensively in the same manner as it has, then it will lose to (insert team of choice.) this has nothing to do with how great the defense is playing, point of the matter is: you don't score points, you don't win. so the fans are being a bit premature, it happens. the coaching staff needs to realize that this vanilla offensive approach isn't going to work against teams that matter when it matters. we can enjoy the top ten ranking while it lasts, but it's premature and a mirage of sorts. because the only ranking that matters is the ranking at the end of the season. and how do we know that the coaching staff doesn't realize that offense is an important aspect of the game? well, because of the types of plays that are being called. i don't care if bugs bunny or joe montana is under center, the type of plays that are being called are not working, and will not work. that is why i think the fans are booing and will continue to boo until we see a game plan that plays to our strengths instead of our weaknesses. these guys are capable of more, maybe not by much, but they ARE CAPABLE OF MORE.

Ill go a step further...I think that letter will make it worse.

btw...i wish Alleva would write Les a little letter  ...that would work MORE towards stopping the boo ers than his current PR nightmare that he wrote

For Perspective, if I'm watching Stanford on Saturday with a lead on Oregon and the fans are booing; then it doesn't matter how slim the lead is or how they got the lead I'm thinking these people are idiots. Really dumb idiots.

If we were averaging 48 points a game, allowing 13...there'd be no booing, I promise.

    Duuuhhh
You side stepped the point, to someone from the outside looking in - which defines most of the college football fan population - its bush league.

Wow. Just wow. You really think that you watch more football than the coaching staff? Do you think that? Wow. I admit that I have no idea how much football the coaching staff watches but... come on... I know how much the average (informed) fan watches. One full day a week plus a Thursday ESPN game is all there is on TV.

I would bet pretty much everything I own that it is well less than 10% of the football the coaching staff watches. I would assume that they study film the entire off season for every team on the schedule. Remember that that film doesn't have commercials or timeouts or anything like that. They get in a LOT of football watching for their time. With modern technology, I would assume that they have pretty much every play for every game that the opponent has run at their fingertips. If they don't, I could create a system that could... :)

I also don't think that the average fans thinks ahead even close to as much as a college coaching staff. They must think years in advance with the whole recruiting thing...

And I would also think that they understand football about 500% better than the average fan. I am a pretty smart guy that knows a bit about the old pigskin, but I am very hesitant to complain too much. You are a well respected poster, but that comment seems to be a bit of an exageration and it hurts your credibility.

I doubt that. Some idiots would want 50, or a shutout.
