Great, while you are doing that, I'll have a chuckle in Ulbricht's face while I tell him to enjoy lock-up. I don't have one bit of empathy for him. He cared about nobody during his thoughtless climb to the top of freedom mountain.
I did... Read the whole post. Those laws weren't a move by 'the man' to keep people down but a universally supported reaction to a terrible situation. Those who administer those laws aren't shits or evil but following not only the law but what they believe is the correct course of action.
Nope. I love freedom. But everything has it's price and consequence when deployed carelessly or self-centeredly. Ulbricht is an asshole who cared about nobody but Ulbricht. He never lost a night's sleep over who might have been hurt by his business. He wanted to leave a mark. He did. Now it's time for him to own it. "Silk Road’s boss was willing to resort to the drug trade’s most violent measures when it suited his needs. On Monday, in the final hours before the the Department of Justice rested its case against Ulbricht, prosecutor Timothy Howard read aloud from a long series of private messages retrieved from the Silk Road’s market server and user forum. Those messages capture what seem to be a grisly nadir for the Silk Road’s pseudonymous administrator known as the Dread Pirate Roberts. Over the course of just a few days, his scheme spirals from merely tracking down a blackmailer to intimidate him, to hiring Hell’s Angels to kill that blackmailer, to paying those same hitmen a total of $650,000 to kill four more people." Yea, enjoy that prison food, asshole.
If all he did was run a website that people use for illegal purposes I'd say just give him 5 years or so but if he was having people killed then he is no better than Al Capone or John Gotti. Throw the book at him.
Here's the Rolling Stone article, if anyone is interested. http://www.rollingstone.com/culture...rime-kingpin-ross-ulbrichts-big-fall-20140204
