Final score, 23-21, Alabama wins. Now what? We're left with LSU and 'Bama at 13-1, split in head to head games, yet LSU is SEC champs. Who should get the crystal? This is where the BCS is all wrong and we need a playoff, be it 8 teams, 4 teams, whatever.
The winner of the coaches' poll, who is the winner of the BCS Championship Game. Only possible split is an AP title, and that would only happen if it were 6-9 this time.
Interesting point. And this is why I hate the fact we're playing a rematch. We've been #1 all season and already beat these guys. If they beat us by 1 score or less, do we get a rubber-match? Of course not! Means we need to whip 'em 1 more time! :crystal::geaux::crystal::geaux::crystal:
It's all or nothing. If an NFL team wins aginst another in the regular season and then happens to play them again in the superbowl there is no split title. Same here. It's all or nothing. Crystal or bust. There is no points for second place. You lose the cg and you are just that, the loser. The ap means nothing at all after the first bcs poll comes out. They made themselves irrelevant after the 2003 split title with USC. See how that came back to bite them? USC had to give it back. The ap used to be relevant. Their favoritism towards USC cost them all relevancy. That same picking favorites is why okie lite is not going to Nola. It's not bama's record. It's not their SOS. It's not any tangible thing that can be measured. It's the sheer favoritism for bama.
The crystal football goes to the team that wins the BCS championship game. Period. The regular season game does not matter.
It would be the final nail in the BCS' coffin, and rightfully so. 13-1 LSU goes home empty-handed, 12-1 Bama gets the NC, both teams 1-1 against each other. With the second-place team essentially landing a first-round bye. The groundwork is being laid for the +1, and this will only accelerate it, especially among conference commissioners not named Mike Slive.
Was reading that in 2008, Slive was pushing the +1 (4 team playoff) format, but the non-SEC schools wanted nothing to do with it. They probably thought that by opposing it, they would be assured of 1 non-SEC school in the NCG. Maybe now, they will change their tune. Who makes these decisions anyway? Somebody need to start calling them out by name in the press and embarrass them publicly.
The AP would LSU #1. They will revolt against the BCS. They hate the BCS. Remember nearly half of the voters have Oklahoma State #2 behind LSU in the AP. If Oklahoma State wins their bowl game handily, then it is pretty much a slam dunk LSU ends up #1.
I agree with you and the NFL is just that the NFL and not college football. If you want to bring the NFL into this LSU would have had a bye while Alabama plays Okie State or whoever they need to play. The BCS only saving grace is if LSU beats Bama in NOLA. We have benefited from the BCS but it is still a crappy system. There have been other teams that where short changed like Auburn's undefeated season, what a crock of crap.
