From ESPN Insider... "Don't be surprised to see LSU open up the vertical passing game. WRs Brandon LaFell (6-foot-3, 206 pounds) and Terrance Toliver (6-5, 206) have a substantial size advantage over Georgia CBs Prince Miller (5-foot-8, 198 pounds) and Brandon Boykin (5-foot-10 185 pounds). In addition, both have the leaping ability and body control to come down with any jump balls downfield. Georgia safeties Reshad Jones and Bryan Evans are aggressive run-stoppers who are vulnerable to play-action and they will be tested by LSU, especially when the Tigers keep a tight end in to block."
It doesn't matter if they were both 6'1, our receivers should almost always have a significant advantage over opposing corners. That said, I too hope the munchkins get their lollies popped.
But I'd like to see it OFTEN. Not once or twice then we settle back into the Big & Fat 10 cloud of dust.
height is a factor, but it's not the only factor in being a good CB. the QB will typically rifle the ball into the receiver's midsection, and at that height a 5'10" corner is more than tall enough. LSU could exploit it, certainly, but there are other things they'd have to worry about. i.e. overthrowing the receiver by trying to float it out of the reach of the CB, etc. i actually really like tolliver in this situation since he seems to be a little better catching with his hands. we should be able to score, but can we get good pressure on the QB and cover AJ Green well? we'll see.
