We're not talking about budget cuts and plant closings. This is about football. He wasn't laid off and they didn't downsize. He was fired because he wasn't getting the job done.

Give it a rest guys. Harris just isn't ready. Live with it.

Just like Beckwith. Welter was starting because Beckwith just wasn't ready. Right?

    Whatever...

Sometimes coaches just get it wrong. Better to just accept it and hope for the best though. I hope Jennings improves but I see nothing (nor do my friends who do this for a living) that indicates he hasn't reached his ceiling.

I appreciate Harris keeping the positive outlook and staying involved. The worst thing he could do is sulk and cower in the corner. He may not be the guy either but he is the superior talent. Everyone including our coaches know this. That's why I believe he really does not know that playbook or Les is just too shaken by the ghost of 2008 to let him get better the only place it really, really matters...on the field. And I totally understand.

Thing about the separation of talent between these guys is this...and this comes from discussions with coaches. Jennings is not the type of guy who's going to lead an offensive juggernaut. As long as you have a great defense and a great running game, he can manage the game. If you need him to do more than that though, you're fucked. Harris on the other hand, has that IT factor that puts up tons of passing yards and will win a whole bunch of games in the near future. The flipside of that though is you get so dependent on that, that if he has a bad game you're screwed and a gunslinger like him WILL have a bad game. The truly great ones know how to be a manager when things aren't going so well. Until Harris gets that part of his game and psyche down, he will be feast or famine and Les Miles is not a feast or famine guy. I know we have a hard time with the Auburn game being his only opportunity but he was truly shook in that game and he couldn't get it together. Les saved him and Harris knows it. Now we just have to hope that Les has his wits about him enough to know when it's his time.

People on this site hate Jameis Winston, but on the field, that ability to balance is what makes him great. He's a slinger by nature but he knows when to reel it in when he's not playing well. It's the primary reason he hasn't lost a game yet. He's a born idiot and destined to fail if he doesn't get his shit together but he IS a great QB. And he had a redshirt year to get it together...

So basically you're saying that a coach is making 4 million a year and we have to watch Jennings look horrible because he can't get quarterbacks to come to school for free.

That is not what I said, you should pay better attention. I said that we have a #1 and a #2 quarterback because we only have two quarterbacks. You asked the question, Ace.

A below 50% completion percentage in this day and age is bombing. That is unacceptable. His experience pays off well. He is great at handing the ball off.

There is no reason AJ should have been anointed the starting job. He sucked against Miss St every bit the same as Harris did against Auburn. Say what you want, but had Miles not been so damn stubborn and played Harris sooner LSU most likely wins that game.

While LSU has had a successful season AJ has been mediocre.

This is a succinct and logical summary.

I keep saying this as well. Harris can hand the ball off just as good as Jennings can.

Exactly! He also is a better passer and runner. I get AJ has a better grasp of things but if you are not a strong enough passer then you should not be playing as much.

All good points, big problem here is Harris will not get his game and psyche down on the sideline and only working in practice. He needs actual game reps. Yea yea I know the argument is "look what happened with the war chickens" but c'mon guys that is not really the place for someone to get his football legs under him right off the bat. Kid needs actual game speed reps.
