Do you really believe a NFL team would draft Jefferson? Really? Jj wasn't that good of a runner and his touchdown to interception ratio was beyond pathetic. Lsu won last year with stellar defense, great special teams and Steven ridley. They won one game because of jj- the cotton bowl. That's because he had five weeks to get ready. Who would draft jj? Don't come back with who would draft lee. No poster on this board has said lee would get drafted. In today's NFL, if you can't make pinpoint passes and pass for 300 yards you sit the bench. Think of all the great qb's from college that are sitting the bench now. Who would waste a draft pick on a qb that has a history of underachieving like jj. You name the team that would risk something like a draft pick on jj.
Go back and watch last year's games. Then come back and tell me that they only won one game because of JJ. That is out and out false. And yes he was a damned good runner and faster than you think. When he escaped the pocket and headed for the corner, he could turn it. On the called draws he would gain tons of yards at opportune times. We were 11-2 for christs sake and Lee didn't come in as the hero in all of them! And don't even talk about historical data dealing with interceptions. Like I had said, historical data does not matter much because the hiring of Krag. The worm has turned because of coaching. Plus if you want to argue historical data, Lee loses... bad. Yep, Lee probably won't get drafted because he still can't escape the pocket and is still throwing off of his back foot. But he is sooo much better than last year. If JJ could improve his mechanics and check multiple receivers, he would be pretty dangerous. Sorry, Lee had PLENTY of opportunities to take the starting job in the past three years and he didn't. Period. He didn't beat out JJ. Now I know that LSU fans have a love affair with the back-up and especially white ones, but if you want to come with that "Les didn't treat him fairly" crap, you aren't going to get anywhere with it. That is insulting to a damn strong coach and pretty illogical. Dameyune Craig.
Who do you think you are fooling? Tell me why some people have the curious notion that for Lee to be good Jefferson must be bad. It makes no friggin' sense at all.
What do you mean trying to fool? I have been straight forward with my opinions. There is nothing hidden in what I have said. I will clarify it for you. I watched the replays of the moo state game where we kicked a record amount of fieldgoals in the game due to no passing game. I watched the humiliating performance of our offense aginst tenn. I watched the wvu replay. We were mocked and made fun of every week on espn. Jj went six games in a row with not a passing td. Our offense was damn near last in the country in passing. If jj returns miles will split time between him and jl. Lee has brought respect back to this offense and credibility to the passing game. I don't like a running qb. I hate option football. I like the pro style we are playing now. If jj returns we will see option football again. Miles has a thing for jj and before the season is over jj will get half the snaps. There is no trying to fool a damn thing. I've have stated my opinion straight forward. I'm not trying to fool anyone. And tigermark, what's the deal about a white qb. Why does that have to be thrown in there. Do you have a problem with the color of the qb? I hate option football. I don't hate jj or his color. He played like chit last year and if lee would have had miles confidence and started , we would have had a passing game. I'm damn glad mett will be the man next year. Both these seniors will be gone. Mett is a pro style pocket passer. We won't be playing option chit next year. I am entitled to my opinion and you to yours. That's cool. I do resent the remark that I'm trying to fool anyone or lsu likes their white qb's. Your trying to paint me as a racist and I resent it. I think lee is playing like a national champion qb and I don't want the distraction of jj fricking that up. Peorid. That's it , I'm done with this subject. You know where I stand. Before you imply the lsu likes it's white qb thing, look in the mirror. Don't dump that chit on me. I don't like option qb's that can't pass no matter what floppin color they are.
Red ... that was a nice flip flop on the phrase ... but it's not the case. Lee doesn't have to be good for Jefferson to be "bad". When I say 'bad", I'm meaning lacking leadership, lacking consistency, lacking the ability to run the offense. It doens't have a dang thing to do with Lee ... Lee could be even worse than JJ .... that doesn't make JJ "good". .. he still is not what a winning QB should be. The guy cannot operate under pressure. We have the last two years of stats to back it up.
This turned out to be a very busy thread with so many opinions on our QBs....what I am reading thru the lines here is the fact all of us agree that our QB situation has much improved and thanks to Kraig! My 2 cents on JJ / JL comparision here: <venting begins> JL has shown much more maturity on the field and avoided unwanted mishaps off the field....this speaks of a person's true character and commitment. Unfortunately, JJ made some poor choices but he is no criminal and most of us may have made dumass moves too at that age. JJ had 3 years to be our winning QB....wow! three years! JL just happened to get the chance when JJ made some bad moves off the field. JL has stepped in, shown major improvement and outside of not ever going to be a Heisman candidate, he has given us a much needed leadership. We can go all the way here folks. The phuking media is flocking to LSU with a new found love now? Wait, until CLM and JL makes all those losers (esp. on ESPN) eat crow. <venting done>
I wonder if red is just doing his job, keeping the board bouncing. If almost everyone is taking one side, he plays the other side in order to keep discussion vibrant. He's damn good at it if that's his reasoning. I have been consumed with football and haven't been on fsa for a while. I think he missed me. He missed kicking my arse over there so found me over here. Thanks red. Sincerely, gomer pile.
While I agree with your sentiments I don't think it's 100% that if JJ comes back he will be splitting 50% of the snaps by years end. We've won our last 2 NC's with a Pro style QB. I think more than anything Miles was trying to protect the ball. He started and kept using JJ because instead of trying to force a throw JJ would usually run and protect the ball. However 4 games in the season with more experience under Lee's belt and the way he's playing, I honestly think (and HOPE) that Lee is exactly what Miles has always wanted in a QB. I don't think Miles is going to risk a good thing simply to keep a players feelings from being hurt. What does Miles gain by putting JJ back in there? His production can't be any better than Lee's is already. I really don't see Miles doing that unless there's a train wreck on offense. Now that I'm saying all this stuff watch first game back JJ gets to lead an entire series. . . . .I think I might kill myself. (over dramatic statement)
I don't think CLM will muddy up the waters by putting JJ back in the mix unless JL goes down, and there are many reasons I feel that way such as: "Jarrett has been great," said senior linebacker Ryan Baker. "Sometimes I just sit down and watch him play. I love the way he's composed now. I read an article the other day ... that talked about him and (Stanford quarterback and Heisman Trophy favorite) Andrew Luck in the same sentence. "I was like, 'Our quarterback has arrived.' " :geaux:
