Seems like hardly any fans want JJ to be the starter if he gets reinstated, esp. with the way the offense is producing. That's the prevailing sentiment.
However, I wouldn't throw JJ under the bus as I do believe he still is valuable to the team in supplementing the offense, and backing up JL. I thought he finally started to play better towards the end of last season up to the Cotton Bowl; and I really believe he has improved under coach K's guidance.

i don't like to see him "discarded" on the side.

He only lost his starter position because of an unusual turn of events where he may even turn out to be innocent, and unfortunately lost his chance to show what he can do as a starter in this brand new season. Life can be tough sometimes, and unfair........

It's actually the exact opposite of that. We score more times and more TD's with Lee in the redzone at QB than JJ.

If Lee gets hurt, Mett should come in and play. JJ is NOT a QB. How else do you explain the 6+ game drought of him not throwing a passing TD last year, after 3 years of being a starter?

I don't want JJ to get any series in a game but if we need a change of pace put Mett in, he could use the snaps.

He was up and down last year just as he has been his entire career. He gave us no stability, and Lee gives us plenty. I think that after what this program and us fans have been through with QB's the last 3 years, we are ready to take stable over anything.

JJ played great against A&M, but remember the Arky game?

JJ is definitely better moving around and using his legs, but his ups and downs both in his play and emotionally are not missed now that he is gone.

I would love for JJ to come back and be a part of his team, he will always be a tiger. I hope to see him in the game as well, I think that he adds plenty of value to our offense and he can be a true threat in goal line situations as well as 3rd & shorts. I just do not want to hear CLM commit to a 2 QB system ever again.

Look captian, I hope jj has a great life. I hope he marries a beautiful woman and sues sombody over this for millions but you can't tell me you don't remember his pouting and the whinney look he had when he was pulled out the game. Jefferson is good for two interceptions a game. Two interceptions aginst bama and we frikin lose. We have runningbacks. We don't need him to run the ball. Again, how many interceptions has lee thrown? How many touchdowns? How many did jj have? We have the media boasting about our offense. With jj as qb , what were they saying ? If lee goes down , mett should play. It's not personal, it's business and jj has no business being lsu's qb this year. Not if you want to win a national championship. I'm sorry if that doesn't pass your respect test but I'm right on this one. If lee goes down mett should start.

If we have Jefferson back and he's ready to go, Les is going to play him before Mettenberger. You know this to be true. Les will play him and he won't take a redshirt and compete with Mettenberger next year, which is good for Mettenberger.

Throwing Metteneberger in like we did to Lee three years ago is not the medicine we need. He will get his PT this year. And next year he will own the position.

On a level playing field in August Jefferson was the starter. If LSU needs him this year, and it could happen, . . . Les is going to play him. And why not?

If Lee stays healthy and competitive he will remain the starter. Lee patiently backed up Jefferson for two years. Now Jefferson is going to have to back up Lee patiently. But if he gets back in time and gets back into shape . . . he's going to get into the game.

And we may be damn glad before it is over.

Do you guys remember the 2001 seccg? It was a winning switch to go to the running qb. I think it is clear Lee is the starter. But i don't think it hurts to have jj as back up. Mett is the future. He will win us a SECcg!

No way do I believe that the playing field was even in August or last year. If it had been Jefferson would have been benched last year and Lee would have been the QB until he either succeeded or failed as the full time QB. Why Les favored him so much only Les knows, but the guy was horrible during the bulk of last season. When he should have been in his dorm room resting and preparing for the beginning of his senior year, he was leading a bunch of teammates into a bar parking lot brawl. Personally, I'd rather he never see the field again as a QB. If he wants to cover kicks, I'm fine with that. Otherwise, he'd be my 2nd or 3rd option.

Some of you need to go back and re-watch the games from last year. I watched them all in the last month. Lee made some great plays to save some games. But guess what... so did JJ. Go back and watch them. Watch the runs that JJ made to get tough first downs when we couldn't get anything going. Watch Lee hit that big pass at the end of the UF game. Watch Lee hit the big pass on 3rd down against Bummer. Watch JJ make equally nice critical plays earlier against Bummer (you Lee fans tend to forget those). That strike for the long TD was awesome. Watch their bone headed penalties (grounding, delay) all season.

Both QBs had their bright moments last year. Both had plenty of faults and neither were consistent. Both QBs looked like crap in the Spring game and we all thought "damn, this year could be a long one...".

Going into August, JJ was THE MAN. No doubt in anything the coaching staff had said to the media. All that we heard was that JJ was a changed man and it was credited to Krag. Guess what? Apparently Krag worked his magic on Lee as well. Can't wait to see Mett next year!

Comparing red zone stats from last year to stats from this year is useless. Talking about how great Lee is this year and comparing it to JJ's performance last year while ignoring Lee's performance last year is biased or foolish. Two different teams, two different OCs, two very different QBs.

Lee came out and proved that he has (for at least 4 games) overcome his horrible faults that plagued him for 3 years (three long, painful years). JJ did not have that opportunity to prove he improved because of his stupid decisions off the field. JJ could have come out and lit it up on the ground and in the air. Nobody knows and nobody will ever know how it could have been if he had not gotten caught up in that incident.

I think that it is pathetic that some fans on this board would just throw JJ away and make statements like "I never want to see jj play another snap of lsu football". What kind of fan are you? He sweat and bled on that field as a Tiger for 3 years and did his best. He got caught up in an incident that he is probably getting completely railroaded for and some fans are ready to throw him away. If he is getting railroaded (and I am pretty sure he is), I think that he deserves the full support of the LSU faithful.

Long story short. I hope he comes back soon. I hope he gets back into playing shape quickly. I hope that he gets a chance to play some football this season and gets a true chance in practice and in mop up time to show that he has improved as much as Lee has. If he has improved as much as Lee, then he is hands down the better option at QB because of his mobility and he would get drafted. Neither Lee nor JJ had many faults, they just didn't get any of them corrected in the past.

We just don't have any idea about what JJ could/can do at this point and to come out with such venom against him on this board is pathetic.
