My assessments are so obviously true that I felt almost embarrassed for having typed them. The numbers bear me out. It's NO coincidence that Republicans are far more prone to also go to church.... in this modern age irrationality and superstition need support systems to survive.

I rarely have any use for Jarvis DeBerry with nola.com, but he made an interesting analogy the other day, in observing that Scalise is considered one of the best in Congress at reaching across the aisle. He compared it to the old Loony Tunes characters of Ralph the Wolf and Sam the Sheepdog. They'd show up every day for work together, exchange pleasantries, and then as soon as the whistle blew, Ralph would start trying to steal the sheep, usually trying to knock off Sam along the way, and Sam would beat the crap out of him every time he caught him. Then the whistle would blow again at 5, and they'd punch out and leave arm-in-arm. Point taken; we all have our viewpoints, and we should be zealous in defending them. But at the end of the day, we're all worse off if we don't find a way to get along despite our differences.

Odd that you make your claim on irrationality about the Christian church while overwhelmingly accepting Muslims (who in large part partake in incest in the middle east) into this country.

Outside of what is true in religion, it has a moral function in society that is scientifically backed. I do not expect you to understand the social evolution of humans on this planet and how "religion" solves a great moral issue.

Say what? Islam is every bit as irrational as Christianity.
