People will listen to or watch anything that appeals to what they think is the truth and the host is good at what he does. All of the successful conservative hosts are professional broadcasters first but there have to be at least a few left wingers who are good at talking. Alan Colmes used to co-host with Hannity but he was too wish-wasy and Hannity ate him alive.
Public radio tried to do a lib thing I think they called Air America. Only host I can remember is Al Franken. Air America failed miserably. As Rush said a few days after that debut, you can't build a popular radio show, or network, on ideology – and rightly or wrongly, Air America got the image that it was working from a playbook. "First," said Limbaugh, "you have to entertain people. You have to make it interesting to listen. I don't hear any of that.
I suppose it's comedians,.. Jon Stewart, Steven Colbert, Bill Maher, etc., who carry the torch for the left.
It was SCRIPTED that way. Confessions of a 14 year Fox contributor... EVERYTHING was rigged to make the rightwingers look like the winners of the argument: https://medium.com/@tobinsmith_9585...as-la-z-boy-cowboys-for-21-years-1996ee4a6b3e
