If anyone saw this piece today on ESPN about the SMU QB who got to play against Navy where his dad once played and was a Captain, it made me think if I'm being too shallow regarding CLM. Knowing that this kid's dad played for Navy, and that he had recently died, the coach of SMU started the guy (he was buried on the depth chart) against Navy, and announced it to his surprise w/his mother in attendance. His actions and comments reminded me of something Les would do and say. It made me reflect that, from a big picture standpoint, Les is a great coach. Unfortunately, his offense is archaic, and it keeps LSU from doing even more. He is the most frustrating enigma of a person I know. http://espn.go.com/video/clip?id=14345833
Yes it was a great feel-good story. The one thing ESPN does well are stories like those. Miles definitely would do something like that. The only difference is he would've made the QB hand the ball off instead of letting him throw the ball.
