So when Saban came to Tuscaloosa he had to know unrealistic expectations would be the order of the day and then from there it would only get worse. Coaches are hired to be fired. You said it, "just the name of the game." When you win a NC and more then hold your own in the SEC it buys you some good will. Would say it started well enough, but even CLM has acknowledged the stumble. He says the fix is in. I'm as interested to see what happens as you. He's got time, it's going to get answered on the field. So personal observations are just that. In the meantime the conversation going on about the results, for or against, is as much about being a part of the sport as the final results.
I agree but the main context of my posts was in response to you generalizing Saban as a coach who was never or rarely in murky water at LSU and that is completely false as stated above. The ebbs and flows are going to be there for any coach at any program just like when Saban was at LSU.
But have you ever felt this way about your coach? Preview of Saban's unveiling, somewhat unorthodox, but yet has that "historical feel."
Not to the extremes in any case with Les or Saban. I am usually right in the middle looking at both the positive and negative. Just the way I have always been on most topics and issues. There is always a middle ground.
however, your logic is flawed. saban did well here, was well liked and everything was fine and dandy. he's still new at bama and the time will come when he moves on (or is run out of town.) there can be no dynasty in college sports these days. programs ebb and flow and change over time. when that time comes, i'd like to see if bama fans still feel the same about ole' saban. tiger fans are fans of the school, tradition and football team, whoever is coach is either someone who is tolerated, or is seen as lagniappe.
It's quite true I don't like Saban. I don't like my ex girlfriend and I'm happily married. I'm not jealous, she's just a bitch. Why is it that all these bandwagon fans, or fans of other schools, think that just because I hate Alabama that it's because of Saban. I hate having to explain that I hated Alabama before Nick Saban was an SEC coach. But, it doesn't matter.
