Unfortunately, that is not the issue. And also not debatable, either.

It was very different last night, though. Instead of doing the post-game interview, he was carried over to the student section, where the alma mater bit was done right then and there.

Everything felt different last night; the walk down Victory Hill was very emotional for the crowd and for Miles, for his bodyguard, for that matter. It was palpable. The players walked right beside him, which is not all that usual for the Tiger Walk. Usually, they are all over the place, but yesterday, they were very united. My daughter's day was made because she got a high five from Fournette.

Chant after chant of "We love Les" or "We want Les" were started.

It was a great night in Tiger Stadium.

Should Miles have been fired? That's certainly up for debate, but it didn't feel right. Of course, I grew up in a house where Charlie Mac's firing didn't feel right, either. When Archer, Hallman, and DiNardo were all fired, it was after one or more losing seasons. Miles has none of those.

Did we miss an opportunity? Perhaps, but the love for Miles was there last night, and it was pretty glorious. I was happy to be there for it. If it was Miles' last game (and I felt it was), I wanted to be there to see it. For it to be the night his job was saved was even more interesting.

I've always liked the goofy dude. I don't think he'll be here much longer, but it's got to be better for LSU for Miles to leave on his own terms, so that we don't "scare" off any potential coaches by being trigger happy with a winning coach.

Now, as for Alleva...is his job in jeopardy now? A sacrificial lamb for this mess?

UGA fired Richt with a similar history as Miles' tenure at LSU, and now they're in line for a great offensive minded coach. I don't think LSU would've suffered on the interest front had Miles been fired last night.

Maybe not. The history has not been written for UGA, either. It may turn out great for them, or it may bite them in the ass. We won't know for a while.

One key difference has got to be that Richt not only doesn't have a NC; he's never even made it to the game.

Great insight on what had to be truly amazing to witness live. I was very happy to see the crowd cheering Miles like they did. The players carrying him off was beautiful. The class and dignity Miles displayed was admirable considering how disrespected he was.

As for Alleva, I think he should be canned. He smeared LSU, making us look like a joke. He undermined LSU by showing no faith in our coach, how does this look to future recruits? I did not like seeing Miles go like this, but I felt it had to be done. Now was the time. Unfortunately Alleva botched it by putting everything on Jimbo. He also never came out and backed Miles, which could have possibly quelled speculation of his eventual firing. Miles became a sympathetic figure, which lead to LSU having to keep Miles. In part also because there was no other viable option for them to quickly announce.

I know Alleva can't stop the leaks but he sure didn't try to patch them.

I'm sure our recruiting will suffer, everyone is speculating that Les has a 1 year cushion to right the ship or he's gone for sure. That kind of uncertainty doesn't recruit as well had LSU just pulled the trigger and announced a homerun hire.

Exactly, Miles and essentially LSU was undermined by the actions of Alleva and the boosters. It's almost like they want Miles to fail. I hope he comes back better than ever.

While I like Miles, and hate to see such a classy guy in this position... he's done it to himself with his stubbornness and unwillingness to adapt. It's time to shit or get off the pot.

You are right in a way that Miles stubbornness did it. His lack of coaching, preparing his team these last two years has caught up. Fact is though this should NOT have happened. All Alleva and the boosters did is hurt LSU. Now we keep Miles but future players know he is on a thin cord. It shows no stability or faith in Miles.

Also there is a thing called class. Miles showed it but Alleva didn't. Despite Miles deserving to be fired he did not deserve to be screwed over and undermined. LSU didn't deserve that either.

Agreed but it's a double edged sword. Miles' inability to have his teams prepared could be looked at as a fuck you at the people who write his checks. With Mett, OBJ, Landry, and Hill LSU tied for 2nd in the West. With that much NFL talent on one side of the ball, LSU should've had another crystal. Again doing Les with more.
