I remember Saban as someone who would tell a reporter that's a stupid question...next question. He was pretty aggressive and abrupt. I kind of like that. I like Miles the best though :milesmic:.
Those were the only ones that got coverage but the every week normal press conferences were the same circles without answering anything. He still does the exactly same during Bama press conferences.
"Les, whats the status on Tim Tebow, is he doing better after the hit?" "he's got heart, and skill, and is a quality human being, and quality football player. We are........ very fortunate, to have a guy like him, and he's such a.... fine...young man, and plays football, he's a football player." "so is he doing ok Les, has he shown any signs of progression?" "well......we will do some evaluating.... and talk to some experts...... and we may know something...... sometime."
Why feed the fire and allow the next opposing team calculate a plan to defend against a key player not being there? I'd rather him be ambiguous, especially with the media...We are fans, we do not deserve to know every tidbit about injuries and playcalling. If we were entitled then we would also be pacing the sidelines with a headset strapped up...maybe, even, with one of those wire-boys that drags it around for us. However, I like Les' approach...keep them guessing. Here, I'll fix it for you: "Les, what's the status on "Tim Tebow"?" "Well, let me tell you, we have a case of concussion and if, by some chance, he is available to play we will surely make sure to keep it vanilla to insure he is going to be fully barred from injury." "But, Les, what about his status for the upcoming game?" "I would not count on him being there...there are too many questions and I think we will play our second string QB instead." Sound better? Didn't think so. Rival coaches can read, too.
I'll take a crack at it... "Les, whats the status on Tim Tebow, is he doing better after the hit?" "We appreciate the extent of the injury #15 sustained. We understand that he cannot take a snap until cleared medically. #15 enjoyed the fact that it was a hard fought win and he looks forward to playing with his damned strong football team again." "so is he doing ok Les, has he shown any signs of progression?" "We feel like... we appreciate the medical staff's opinion and will enjoy #15 rejoining the team at practice when in fact that takes place." He'll finish by adding... "We also understand the fact that we're 4-0 now, and some fans aren't happy, so I quit." - hehehe... sorry, that was to make it entertaining for bmy- :hihi:
that would make sense if he asked urban meyer. les is just a weird dude and is paranoid so he doesnt answer the most simplest questions out of fear he will tip his hand. even when there is none. heres how normal brain activity should work: We will prepare for both quarterbacks since we have no way of knowing their status until gametime. see, no tipped hand just no weirdo speak and you dont sound bat**** crazy. make no mistake hes bat**** crazy. this really isnt by design like you think. its by paranoia and confusion.
Sorry, my quote of you wasn't what I was focusing on with my tirade. I was really more focusing on posters (i.e. stevescookin) who complain with Les' "coach-speak." I caught your sarcasm but I just quoted to fix it, sorry.
