well that's because the running game is a non-factor. that has a lot to do with it. these guys need to want to do it. i'm not questioning their commitment since i haven't seen anything from them that would force me to do so, but they should know that the sky is the limit as to how good they could be. the LSU coaching staff can only do so much, the players have to want it. does our offensive line really want it? i'd hope that guys like ciron would be there pushing these other guys to do their best possible on that line. plus with guys like charles scott and keiland williams, something just isn't up to par with our running game. i'd hate to be the team that LSU puts it together against because i don't think you'd want to piss off our offense and put their backs against the wall. maybe they just need to be challenged. some of the offensive stats sure should be convincing. this is why i'm still optimistic. LSU hasn't shown much of anything exciting on offense, yet we still seem to be able to almost score at will.
Correct me if I'm wrong here but didn't he answer a direct question last week about calling plays and he said that he did not? Now he says that they could pass for 350 yards but due to HIS stubbron nature they did not and went back to what HE feels comfortable with which is CS up the gut? So last week's answer was in reality a lie. Maybe he doesn't actually call the play but he tells Crowton what he wants him to do and lets him choose the exact play? He said he only makes "suggestions". Well most working people understand that when their boss makes a "suggestion" it's not really a suggestion. If this is really the case and Crowton's offense is being handcuffed by the Woody/Bo mentality of Les I bet Crowton is gone next year. Also I bet if we actually run a 21st century offense the OL suddenly miraculously looks a LOT better.
That was a cool episode of The Les Miles Show. You guys should check it out. Click on "LSU Sports Radio Network" on the left menu, and then click on "The Les Miles Show -- Week 6 (9/30)." You can fast forward through the commercials and go back to the parts you want to hear again. Media - LSUsports.netThe Official Web Site of LSU Tigers Athletics
I guess that answer's the question of whether Crowton is free to call any play he wants or whether Miles has to 'approve them (for lack of a better term). Maybe that's why the O has been kind of predictable.
There is not a head coach in the game whose offensive coordinator doesn't have to run the offense that the head coach wants.
I'm not debating that. I'm wondering if he calls his own plays or if he has to run them through Miles first.
