I respect your opinion. I have a feeling that the season will play out and it will become clear whether we competed for a title or not. I hope we do.

BS. LSU finished 2nd in the West last season with Bama winning in overtime at their place. Third place in the tough SEC with only Bama and Florida having better SEC records. LSU had a lot of issues last year, but they damn well competed in the SEC West in spite of them.

I agree with most of what you're saying, but I don't think last year's game against Bama in T-town went into OT. The final was 24-15. The year before that, the game in TS went into OT when we blocked a FG near the end of regulation.

Totally agree and not trying to be picky. 2008 LSU hosted Bama and went to OT after we blocked the late field goal try. We had a pick in the end zone, Bama scored to get the win. 2009 at Bama was not OT, but was the game of missed calls by the "officials". LSU has played Bama tough the last two years, although both were losses.

That's what I was conflating. The notion that we aren't competitive if we don't reach the SECCG is just wrong. The top five teams in the SEC are consistently competitive.

How about take it a step further. What if LSU goes 9-3, losing to UNC, WVU, and UT? Now beating UF, Ole Miss, Bama,Ark, and Auburn. Making it to the SECCG, going undefeated in the SECW. Does this equate to an exit ticket for Miles? I mean the record is similar to previous perceived bad seasons. Losing 2 OOC games that we all would prefer the Tigers win, but we beat the 4 teams that have been giving us trouble over the past 2 seasons.

Miles will have to lose 6 games badly for an instant exit ticket.

which goes back to its not so cut and dried of "win x number of games or gone". or "compete for an sec (or west) championship or be gone".
