I welcome other views. Just have some facts to back it up. An just for the record, I am one of those that say Crowton should have been out on his ass 1.5 years ago.

If Les Miles can't put LSU in a position to compete for an SEC West championship for the 3rd year in a row, he needs to be fired.

let's say lsu goes 10-2 and the only two teams we lose to are sec west teams. (which would mean we would beat florida.) and we finish third in the west. should he be fired?

If he goes 10-2 and loses to 2 SEC West foes, he should retain his job. The worst he could do would be to lose the West by 2 games and with the tougher OOC schedule, this would be a good season. The odds are that he would either lose the SEC West by a tie breaker or by 1 game should we go 6-2 in the SEC this season. That is competing. Losing by 5 and 3 games in an 8 game schedule is not. Let's hope we compete this season and Les retains his job.

this is what i am getting at. it isnt so cut and dried of "this this and this or les should be fired".

if we went 10-2 losing only to 2 sec west teams, and those two teams lost no sec west games, putting us solidly in 3rd in the west, he isnt exactly "competing for an sec west championship", yet has had a damn good year.

It is not possible for 2 teams to go undefeated in the SEC West. I do understand that it is not cut and dried but we've got to show that we can compete for a title again. We have not done so in the past two seasons, with a combined record of 8-8. This is 8 games behind the record of Alabama who is 16-0 over the same period. Losing to Ole Miss 2 years in a row sucks too. I think that if we don't compete this season, Les has to go.

so i misspoke in trying to make a point. but the point being, we can have a two loss season and be solidly a 3rd place sec west team. that is a damn good record, and a bit of bad luck.

so when you say "compete for an sec west championship or fire clm", its not that easy. and, imo, a bit of a platitude.

"competing" in this case, is in the eye of the beholder.
