That, and personal relationships. My understanding is that he's very confident and pleased with one or both of them as coaches and friends. That builds trust - which is why some coaches hire their relatives...

Right. It is always easy to question decisions once the outcome is known. With the facts he had at the time, the results of the prior 3 years of solid D and a NC in hand, why rock the boat? Clearly, it was not a good decision, so now another one needs to be made, and not quickly, but rather in a methodical, well thought out manner. That needs to be balanced with the pressures of DC availability, etc., but too quick of a decision may have a pronounced long term negative effect.

How can you mention "home run" when no one knows for sure if he is at the plate. All we have is internet rumors.

Yep, particularly since no one has yet even been hired.

Your comment makes it sound like we won that NC on defense alone. Yeah we had a decent defense, but if you think it wasn't declining from the start to finish of that season, then you need glasses. And shutting tOSU down wasnt too hard, they suck... but our D did give up a what 60 or so yard TD run by Wells almost off the bat.

How much to rent your avatar space? How many square centimeters is it? Got a friend who's in the market for a used avatar.

Saban's defense gave up a 90+ yard play against UGA a few years back. Not to mention the big play against Iowa in the Cap One bowl in 2004. Those plays happen.

I'll probably tick some people off with this post. If I do, deal with it: it's your problem, not mine.

There are a group of fans that are so enamored with Nick Saban that no matter what CLM does, he can not win their loyalty. I think that this is because Saban popped their National Championship cherry and just like the 1st time they had sex with someone, they can't fathom anything being better than their 1st lover and that is the only refeerence point they have.

These fans are immature and need to grow up. Get over it and quit stalking Saban (who jilted you) while being passive/aggressive with your current NC coach (who has been the model of faithfulness.) Did you drive away subsequent lovers because they got tired of hearing how great your first lover was? Did you never recognize and honor all the wonderful things about that person until after it was over?

Saban was great for LSU's program and I honor the job he did and where he brought Tiger football. However, he abdicated the throne. Thankfully, Miles and Saban are not the same people. Miles brings some aspects to the table that Saban was incapable of and vice versa.

What team were you watching? LSU finished the 2007 season ranked #3 in Total Defense--just as they did the previous two seasons. I'd check your own eyeglass prescription, amigo.
