some may not always agree with les miles' coaching philosophy (me) although tonight he quieted most; yet this is why most everyone likes les miles the man. because he is that. a man, with character. amidst his quirkiness and oddities it shows in every fiber of his being. And its very difficult to stay true to one's self, much less in such a high profile position. ive met very few men with the character of les miles. Though theyre usually very easy to recognize. its just not easy for most to maintain even though the right path is almost always obvious. I think this is why luck shines on him more often than not. forget the win. forget the losses. in the grand scheme, games are insignificant. what he did last night regardless the outcome shows what a leader does in the face of adversity. he leads. And that he did, when the alternative would have been much easier. The team's effort was a direct reflection of that. So, hopefully the win last night and the positives can assuage some of the pain and anguish accompanying the memory of his lost mother. Les fn Miles
Ultimately that's what it's all about. I'd rather have a man of character that wins 80% of his games than a complete shit stain that wins championships every other year.
Yes, that's the enigma that is Miles. Sometimes he makes you want to pull your hair out or puncture your ear drums. But he is a winner and he does things the proper honest way and is truly a good kind person. Take football out of the equation and not a single person on the planet could possibly dislike him. Add football and people love him or hate him and many can't even make up their mind on that. I can definitely appreciate the man he is and understand why his players genuinely seem to love him.
Not many in the coaching community have integrity and class. Les has both. These are among the many reasons that recruits want to play for him.
I may question his coaching but never the man. It is easy to see he is a man of high character. It is also easy to see his love for his players and LSU. Miles is a class act.
@tirk, I'm proud of this damn strong post. I know that @shane0911 gives me a ration of shit and calls Miles my uncle or whatever, but Miles is such a warm individual that he does feel like family to me. I like the man, and the man wins an overwhelming majority of his games, which makes liking him that much easier. Shane still says he "just doesn't like Miles," but I can't see why not. He's a good guy who's all heart, who loves his family. It shows in everything he does.
I like when he's being interviewed (post game) then all of a sudden looks around the room and says something like, "WOW, was that exciting?!?!"
This is why mothers and fathers want their sons to play for the guy. Worth mentioning that we've done all of this winning with barely a whiff of negative attention from the NCAA.
I think Miles has tons of character and integrity. I think he is a great recruiter and an amazing mentor. However I don't believe at all given the option of having 5 NCs in 10 years or Miles as the head coach anyone would chose Miles. That's just retarded.
