Les Miles will never beat Nick Saban again, therefore LSU will never win the West

We'd want a better coach, wouldn't we? Saban kind put us behind the 8ball when hiring miles by leaving so late.

I was open to the miles hire but soured on him in game 1, if I recall. I bought in for a while after the NC, but my opinion of him is at its lowest since then.

that would be game 2 of his tenure vs Tennessee....the game that got moved to a Monday night....it was a sign of things to come with clock management and game management shortcomings (I'm being nice here) of one Les Miles

Game 1 was the game that got moved to Arizona because of Katrina. LSU struggled and only won because of a last minute TD pass from JaMarcus Russell to Early Doucet. Give Les a pass on barely beating an inferior opponent on that one because of the circumstances

Game 2 was the one I can never forget. Monday Night Football in Tiger Stadium
Blew a 21-0 halftime lead vs Tennessee.

not sure why you're explaining that to me.....it was lsu-i-like that wasn't sure which early game he soured on Miles.....I assumed it was the game we actually lost

Nope, it was game 1. I wasn't calling for his head but I remember feeling a sinking feeling in my stomach - the decisions this guy was making, the lack of intensity...

I get that, and I would tend to agree had he not (to date) done as well as anyone in the conference has at beating them. I know the "what have you done for me lately" factor plays a part as well, but if you look at the whole picture he has beaten them as regularly as anyone in the conference has. Unfortunately for us (and everyone else for that matter), it's no easy task.

For the record, I do agree that this game was poorly planned for, and the team really wasn't given ample opportunity to try and beat Bama. To me, that does fall on coaching (Miles and Co.)... They should have known better. It was almost as if they didn't even look at film on Bama. I feel bad for the team for that.

I interviewed a high school coach yesterday, and I think Les Miles was roaming around my subconscious when I asked,"Does scouting really play a big part in your game planning, or do you not let the opponent dictate what you will do?" He said while there are some things you always rely on because your team does them very well, you also have to pay attention and prepare for what the other team does well.

I didn't see any indication that Les was prepared for what Bama does.

The strange part about that is when people asked Les if Kevin Steele provided any insight as to what Bama does, or do you feel he can be the X factor, Les said something like we feel the film will give us what we need.

There wasn't enough video for Les to make those decisions. Only 5 years worth.

The numbers suggest --- Les will beat Saban 30% of the time.
