One of my best friends growing up played for Bama in the seventies when they did limit scholarships. However he spent 4 years there on a swimming scholarship. Bama is the reason that anyone who is on football roster has to have it count against the 85 man limit.
Yeah I know right...however, like it or not @TerryP has a valid point. I don't like agreeing with him, but I agree with him.
Was he the one that couldn't swim? Word was one kid said if you threw him in a pool, he'd drown. He never learned how to swim. Lol
Probably not, this guy grew up with me and we were always in a pool, the lake, the bayou, etc. But I guarantee you he never went to one swimming practice. Bama also had several players who were on wrestling scholarships but they probably did wrestle, that sport was a blast. Still cheating though.
I honestly believe his legend freaked out everybody connected with cfb so much that people were truly too intimidated to report, testify or sanction him. Thank goodness Bo Jackson had the balls to face up to him and chose Auburn instead of BAMA.
Oh I have no problem agreeing with him. I also find him to be a pretty rational guy. That comment was really just picking; however, in this instance I honestly think what red posted immediately following his, was on the mark. It would be like a kid getting All State in HS and someone saying it wasn't fair to compare cause kids today start much organized ball much younger, and have better coaching than they did 30 years ago. Or flip it, saying being a valedictorian 30 years ago wasn't as meaningful as one today because the curriculum today has more carnegie units.
Yeah well in defense of our coach, he wasn't letting his assistants phuck kids in the ass in our showers. That has to count for something, no?
perhaps winning percentage can be a common denominator. bryant's record in his 1st 10 yrs at bama: 88-14-7 .807 miles' record at LSU: 95-24 .798 in a much more competitive era i don't think CLM has anything to hang his head about, do you???
