OMG. I finally figured out that this is the biggest waste of my time. If you know of a good website, please let me know. How bout them Tigers?
Sometimes I feel that way, too. I just ignore the hopeless cases, because you'll never convince them that everything's going to be okay. We're still LSU. We're still in the conversation, even if we're not the favorites. We still have a chance, even if the whole world says we don't. None of that is going to change anytime soon.
I may be totally wrong, but I have always said the big problem is the offensive coordinator. Coach Stud needs to be replaced. He was not that good of an OL coach.
1) As a previous poster stated, the running game shortens the game by the clock running more than it does in a pass-heavy game where the clock stops for incompletions. I thought that was basic Football 101. 2) We have passed much more against the cupcakes than we have in years past, so the coaches are working on it. However, the drops can't continue to happen--even against a cupcake. Miles is still going to secure the win. With drops, he returns to the running game. 3) And this is what Miles has done to spare his defense. When the WRs are dropping passes, he runs more. I'm not arguing all of this as a sign that I don't think we need an effective passing game. We do. However, our head coach has his philosophy on football, just as Mike Leach and that toolbag from WVU do. It's simply that the philosophies are different. For what it's worth, the Miles philosophy is the more winning one. And if our WRs would catch the balls that come their way, our passing offense will be fine.
I just watched this video clip about LSU. http://bleacherreport.com/articles/...h-mettenberger-have-a-breakout-game-vs-towson It is time to take the training wheels off Mett!!
I don't think the problem is our offensive line but the in experience from the receivers the relationship Mett has with his receivers and not to mention receivers droping passes. I saw Odell miss one late in the fourth quater that would have given us great field position. This team is young and we will have't to go through with some growing pains. it's part of the process so get used to it. I think we have been competitive in every one of our games. I still see a lot out of this team this year.
1) Stopping the clock because of incompletions? .. yes .. it does shorten the overall time of the game ... by maybe 10-15 minutes ... but this does not lead to less fatigue or injury. Time outs stop the clock as well, ... and usually, the players get a breather and a drink. 2) .. I agree, Miles needs to secure the win. But when you are up by three touchdowns .. it's time to work on those drops and pass protection. 3) I don't recall the cupcakes taking many series to more than 3-out. That's not exactly taxing on the defense, ... but that is just my opinion. I agree .. and I'm not asking Miles to change his run philosophy .. I'm asking him to develope the pass game for when he needs it ..... like when we play Bama or Georgia .. or maybe even FL and SC. That's what those cupcake games are for, IMO. We don't need anymore development on the run game, we know we can do that. Run a few series, get a few TDs, .. ok .. your good. Let's see if we can put together a good pass attack for if we need it. Granted ... Miles has a rabbit foot somewhere .. but .. sometimes, luck doesn't cut it ... like in last years BSCNCG.
Yes. It does. LSU Offense - 69 plays a game Oregon Offense - 84 plays a game LSU Defense - 57.5 plays a game Oregon Defense - 78 plays a game That's an aggregate of 35.5 plays per game fewer that our guys play than theirs. At that pace, their guys will have played 426 more plays than we have. At our rate of 126.5 plays a game, that's equivalent to 3.37 extra GAMES. That absolutely reduces fatigue and chance for injury.
Those are really good numbers and will hopefully pay off as the year goes on and other teams are on the field longer.
