I agree with Les.....this is exactly the kind of game we needed. In fact the best thing for our problems would be to drop in the poles and show these guys they are not what everyone has been expecting. This may bring in some needed attitude in that O-line. We have the talent they are just not playing to potential...just kind of going through the motions. I think everyone is focusing on Alabama and we win the crystal. It will not be that easy.
Taking on the responsibility for Offensive Coordinator can not have helped Studrawa be a better offensive line coach. In fact, I worry that they aren't getting the position coaching they need, especially during the game, with Stud in the Pressbox.
Here's my take and I've said it before. Les Miles is scared to throw the ball because of 2008. He will not let go of the offense because the last time he did our fans almost ran him out of town. I think he figures that if we lose it's not gonna be because we threw interceptions, it's gonna be because we can't out physical our opponent and win in the trenches. He has no trust in 8, nor the passing game and it's obvious.
I suspect you are watching Oregon and wishing lsu had that sort of offense. It's not about offense it's about scoring more an the opponent. And lsu dropped 40 on oregon and made the look like homosexuals.
I'm more worried about the defense giving significant yardage on misdirection traps and draw plays like Auburn ran all night last night, to be honest.
I am glad that we have a punishing rushing attack and want to stay a 'run first' offense. That said, I wish we weren't so predictable. I wish we'd counter the blitz with slip screens or misdirection. I wish the other team's defense had more than a handful of plays to prepare for. These are basically the only plays we run. - hand off up the middle - stretch play off left or right tackle - short pitch either left or right - draw play - fake to fullback, flip to tailback - WR screen - WR slant That's basically our entire offense. Every now and then we'll throw deep, but not enough to make any real difference. Some people seem to think that since we're critical of the offense, we're not happy that we got a road win in the SEC. Not true. All I'm saying is that we need to open it up a little more on offense or we can expect more of the same going forward.
that was an ugly win but damn i loved the game. i was on my feet the whole fourth quarter. I'd rather watch a close, physical game over a 40+ point blow out anyday. Our guys will learn from this one and be better prepared for the next ones.
