From what Ive read he is considering LSU but is pretty much an Ohio St lock. Hopefully they can really wow him, but had he visited during the season. Might have really made a difference than visiting when there isnt a game. He visited Ohio St during the Michigan game and thats what really sold him. The player Im really hoping we get in John Brown, a DT from Florida. His teammate Jordan Hammond is said to be a lock, so hopefully he can persuade Brown to join him. He is still considering Florida and Florida St I believe. Some are saying he could a Warren Sapp type of player.
It was supposed to be between us & Bama for John Brown, and their coaching situation can't hurt our chances - his grades don't look good though. Another top DT coming in this weekend is Cameron Heyward who goes to school with T-Bob.
Wow, thats awesome, I didnt think we were in the running for Heyward. I wonder what LSU will do if they land all those DL(in and out of state)? Im sure they may move some to the OL. Because Louisana is stacked with DL talent and we have a few other out of state DL prospects. Plus we are already loaded for the next few years at DL.
We won't land them all because we couldn't let them all commit - we don't have the room. We'll see how things end up finishing, but I'm expecting Blackwell & Nevis to be our only DT's this class.
I hope we get Peters and Brown as well. I think Peters will turn into a very good DE. We really need OL and DBs.
Ole Dandy...Chad Jones is on record as saying Miami isn't in the running anymore - it's LSU/USC and he says he's already made his decision as of this morning (scout). Chris Walker is also on the record many times (even after his visit to LSU), that UTk is his leader. Going to be a struggle to get him and only DD would list him as an LSU lean I'll tell you what Barksdale, Brown, Heyward, and the others will do - they'll get Blackwell's and Davis' and Nevis' butt in gear or they may find themselves without a scholarship. At least that's the message being sent.
Chad Jones is saying now that he knows where he will be going to school....he just wants to get his visits out of the way and then announce....this is coming from scout.
Its almost a guarantee to be lsu....he also mentioned something about being worried about out of state book fees...so if thats the case then thats also a good sign....I'm really starting to feel good about this class to be....things are about to get real good.
His comment was that he is playing football instead of baseball because football covers everything - including out of state fees, which is actually a bad sign from our perspective because it says he thinks he would have to pay out of state fees if he played baseball. I wouldn't worry about it though. He knows where he wants to go & he hasn't even been to USC yet, so what does that tell you? I feel really good about all of La's products. Out of state is less clear. Things sound really good with Byrd & Tolliver, and heck even Thompson as of his recent interview with Scout. But these DTs etc that we are bringing in and visiting this week from far away, I don't expect LSU to get commitments from them.
