one of his quotes from his appearance in front of reporters today:

TigerRag - Miles speaks about title game loss

it's similar to what he said in his postgame remarks Monday:

"we felt like we were prepared, but obviously we were not."

Les Miles: 'I told my team I did not see it coming. And that's my fault.'' | NOLA.com

(basically a collection of his quotes from the postgame press conference)

Is this enough of an explanation for you who are demanding an apology you feel owed?

I said in another thread that sometimes teams get their @$$es handed to them (even on large stages), and the team/coaches aren't always sure why.

Anyone remember Bertman's '94 or '95 team get their @$$es beaten in Omaha by Cal State Fullerton by something like 24 runs? We won a few NC's after that, though. Skip and his team probably couldn't have told you why.

I'm not sure Ron Washington and the Rangers could tell you wth happened to them in the World Series this year (or last, for that matter.)

    It's sports; this stuff happens.

That sums it up nicely. Probably that's all we'll ever know - or need to know.

Definitely some contradictions of himself within. If they weren't prepared and prepared their butts off, then they are lost and were totally out-classed. Which is it?

I understand loyalty, but this is probably a case of Les being a bit lost and loyal to a fault to his people, at least publicly.

Stacey ... it's enough that he admitted what we all already knew.

CLM put all his eggs in the "run the ball" basket. He never once considered a short passing game on the back of JLee's quick release. As it was, his pass stategy depended on the run game being successful, which is bad coaching on his part, because we didn't run the ball well against Bama in the first game either.

I think CLM is not being totally honest about JLee and the bama pass rush. The truth of the matter is more likely that CLM did not have a short pass game in his back pocket. That has been a real disappointment all season for LSU, and it's why I consider him a clutz when it comes to offense and the talent surrounding him. Since the team didn't have it, no need to trot Lee out there where he'd clearly have a disadvantage having to sit in the pocket while the longer plays developed. But even that would have been worth the gamble giving that JJ was stinking up the field as only JJ can do.

Nick Saban outcoached CLM. Saban recognized that he could not run the ball against LSU in the first game .. and hence, his HT candidate. TR, got very little play ... wasn't even on the field a good part of the 1st half.

I know Les won't read this .. but maybe Blem can tell him ....

DEVELOP A SHORT PASSING GAME!! ... just in case you need it!!

Finally, someone acknowledged the pass rush. Everyone's been blaming Jefferson, Miles, and Stud for the offensive performance, but the O-line was the under-performer in my opinion. Jefferson had 3 seconds tops on all passing plays before he had to get the hell out of there. You can't move the ball downfield when you can't get to the bottom of a 7-step drop.

    if he had 3 seconds

If he had 3 seconds he should have connected with someone . JJ lost the game . It was the JJ show , and all got to see the JJ we know . When under pressure he gets confused .

Nah I don't think it is enough, what would satisfy me is Les explaining why he decided to give up. Why he allowed his team to quit. We were down 2 scores and for gods sake, if not Lee bring in Mettenberger. Why did Jordan Jefferson never at any point in his career other than being injured or suspended, not have to fear for his job. Why was he pandered? Why was he awarded the freedom that NO OTHER TIGER, was awarded. It stinks to high hell. And I'll never get an explanation, no one will, but and who the f am I, no one really but I won't be and never will be satisfied until those questions are answered HONESTLY.

I respectfully disagree. Short passing game would not have worked. Bama played single safety coverage all night. They brought the other safety down in the box to cover the run and the short game. Our OL could not handle their front 4 which left their backers to back into coverage. This left a very small window to throw the short ball. We would have had to stretch the field to make Bama go back to cover 2. You have to have time to throw those type routes. The question is: "What happened to the OL which had dominated in earlier games? Our right tackle was awful. That makes our very average QB's much worse.
