this, this, and this! 1. alleva, imo, only cares about his own political reputation. the thought of putting a hire in his hands scares the hell out of me. i said that all season. when he was hired, someone (i dont remember who) said as long as he didnt f*ck up tailgating or football he would be ok. well, he's f*cking with tailgating with the ridiculously structured parking fees and trailer fees. and he damn near f*cked up football. 2. the only people out there are less qualified or unproven with no hc experience. too great a risk to take. 3. some people would rather be right than do what is best for the program. unfortunately, those are the people whose dicks are stuck in alleva's throat.
Loyalty or not... Miles wasn't about to leave a top SEC program for a Big 10 basement dweller. That program is a train wreck with no light at the end of the tunnel. Hopefully we just got stronger in the recruiting season with Miles announcement he's staying.
Then he must have called the entire 2007 season because the Cotton Bowl was a spitting image of it. . .a nasty running game, downfield passing, and a wrinkle here and there.
a piece of the puzzle that many are over-looking, thinking it is all about money. yeah, the money is nice. and it appears mich was willing to throw great gobs of it at miles. and yes, it would be walking into a train wreck when he has over the past couple of years been setting things up very nicely here. but maybe the man truly loves louisiana and lsu, despite how he has been treated by some. maybe the fact that people in louisiana are passionate about life - food, football, family - and the other things that make our state great, have given lsu and louisiana a place in his heart. i hope so at least.

Thanks Again, Les! This is my first post. Today I'm as happy as I was on the day coach Miles first turned downed Michigan in favor of LSU. Let me take you back in time to December, 2007. I woke up on the morning of our SEC Championship game against Tennessee feeling as low as could be. LSU had lost it's second triple overtime loss of the season to Arkansas the week before, and seemingly had blown it's chance to play for the BCS national championship game. Les Miles was being heavily courted by Michigan, and all indications were that he would depart for Ann Arbor after the SEC championship game that day. I was depressed over the prospect of losing our excellent head coach, and thinking that an inferior Tennessee team would have an emotional edge and win the league championship. Les Miles became my friend for life when he held a press conference before the game to announce that he was LSU's head coach and would remain so, and was taking his damn fine football team out to win the SEC championship. After LSU won the game, that evening both West Virginia and Missouri both lost and that night LSU got the chance to go to the BCS championship. That day took me from the lowest of the lows to the highest of the highs. Since that day I have held Les Miles' in the highest regards as a coach and as a man. I'm pleased to read that more of the Miles supporters are becoming more vocal in their support of our coach. Of course I hated the Ole Miss' debacle in 2009, and the Tennessee near debacle in 2010, but overall the Mad Hatter has brought LSU fans much more success and excitement than reasons to complain. The whiners seem to forget that Nick Saban had a mediocre final season in 2004 and lost last second leads to Arkansas and Iowa in his last two games as head coach. In how many years in it's football history can LSU say it beat Tennessee, Florida, Alabama, and Ole Miss in the same year? Our 11-2 season with this years team is about as good as any Tiger fan could have dreamed of before the season started, especially given our QB situation. Coaches with Les Miles coaching ability, character, charisma, class, and loyalty are few and far between. He is a winner in the toughest football conference in the country. Les, you're a damn fine football coach and I'm proud to say you coach at L S U. I'm already looking forward to 2011. Geaux Tigers!:tigereye:
