That is freaking fantastic!!:milesmic::geauxtige It can be spun anyway they want to, but Miles is truly happy where he is and he made the choice, plain and simple. Miles is an LSU! man and I'm thankful that he will be our coach until he retires!:LSU231:
Actually, it doesn't matter how YOU try to spin it. CLM did not hold the university hostage. Nice try at a smear campaign. Since the negatigers are stuck with Miles they now have to make crap up to slander and libel him.
Sure you do. Les Miles turned down Michigan to remain coach at LSU for the 2nd time in 3 years yet somehow that means he he does not want to be here. Another smear attempt.
Some of your post is accurate and other parts not so much. I said before all this went down that I doubted Miles would get an offer because of the politics and the pro Les and anti Les sides. Well the UM AD did a lot of smoothing over this past week and reportedly got the money from both sides to offer Miles market value (likely near $4M plus incentives). He did all he could do. They thought that would be enough but it wasn't because Miles is actually a smart man and knows that his career stability would be in jeopardy and the constant inside pressure and outside pressure from the fans would be a very difficult job for anyone. Miles has consistently said over the last few years that he is happy here and even mentioned what his protege Bo told him once. "Find your own Michigan and make it your own". He told everyone he didn't want to bolt and this is his home most can't accept that. If he wanted to bolt he could have. In a perfect situation at UM where UM was not in shambles with internal politics and restlessness, we would likely have seen Miles take a stab at the job. And who could really blame him for taking a job at his alma mater. Life isn't perfect, however. He made the right choice for his himself and his family. Tirk also had a perfect post about Alleva. He knew he had to go all in for Miles given what was out there and we needed a hire fast with NSD approaching and a team here that will compete for a national championship next year and years to come. Miles was the only option given the circumstances .
Oh and ehelmLSU owes me $20. You are officially on notice. I even said Miles would accept a new deal and never give a straight answer on being offered by UM.
I'm satisfied that Miles decided to stay. He brings a lot to the table. I'm curious how the fanbase reacts next time we have a Tennessee/Ole Miss event. Quite a few people made an about face and I heard someone say earlier, "I bet all those hoping beyond hope that Miles stays would be singing a different toon had we lost to A&M." I would have been excited and surprised had Miles taken the Michigan job, would feel better if Miles finds a new OC, hope Miles' new contract secures more money for his staff and cuts away at his buyout. I don't have a huge problem with Crowton as OC (though he is responsible for a dismal offense for three years now), it is his ability to cultivate QBs that has me concerned. I'd be happy for Miles to find an innovative way to help Crowton with the QBs because whatever is happening isn't working.
Very happy to hear Les is staying. I can't think of any coach I'd rather have than him. We've bitched in the past and we'll probably bitch in the future, but dangit, you gotta love that man. There just ain't nothing else out there quite like him.:miles:
LSU Coach Les Miles: 'I couldn't be happier with the way it turned out' | NOLA.com "The want and need to stand by my commitment to the team I coach and the school I represent overshadowed any other consideration," Miles said to a small gathering of media at the American Football Coaches Association convention here. Minutes earlier Miles delivered an hour long address to his coaching brethren. Now that our coach is back, How would you have liked to listen to Miles for an hour at the coaching convention? Gotta love him !!
Don't be a sheep. You seem to take what ESPN says/tweets as gospel truth. Open your eyes and see that they are wrong...a lot. For crying out loud, today Robert Smith put his 2011 top 5 up today. #2, FSU. #5, TEXAS FRIGGIN A&M!!!! Do you believe that? I don't...just like I didn't believe Miles would take that job if offered. He was being courteous to his former school, that he DOES love. But he is an LSU Tiger, now...and has been for a while. Bo Schembechler told him to find his own Michigan, and he has. Get used to it. And stop believing everything ESPN says, for crying out loud.
