Yes, the problem was, after an interception, then especially after two of them, why wouldn't you start leaning on the running game? Yet we threw a 3rd interception and nearly a 4th. Ole Miss could not stop the run. Then on our last TD drive, we went down the field like there was 30 seconds left on the clock instead of 6 minutes. Baffling stuff.
The 3 principle ball carriers were 30 for 139 (4.7 avg). Still don't know why college football can't make a simple change to move sacks to the passing column, not as rushing stats.
first qtr-6.4 yrds per rush 2nd qtr-4.8 3rd qtr-3.2 most of them in the redzone, Hillard and Hill scored in the red zone with rushes of 3 and 1 yards, as well as more rushes in the redzone. 4th=2.67 with LSU running the ball 4 times.
I know we were gashing them up the gut. And I agree that we could have run more. Ole miss had our coaching staff off balance by mixing things up. We were out of rhythm. The team was flat. We really deserved a worse beating with no chance to catch up.
Does anyone have any video of the post game press conference with Miles after the Ole MISS game? I would also be interested on your take as to what he meant by a piss poor job with preparing his team to play in a stadium like Ole Miss'. Obviously he is taking the blame for something, what do you think it is?
The coverages really fucked with Zach, running that those LBs and nickel corners underneath really confused him. He took shots because he thought it was the only option, however the tight end and the middle of the field was open all night.
