So basically what everyone is trying to say is that Les made mistakes, Chief made mistakes, some of the players made mistakes. Sounds like a TEAM loss to me!!!!!
It's puzzling that so many of our fellow forum members fail to recognize the validity of the point that your comment raises. Yes, Les Miles does a lot of good and deserves credit for that. However, all of that "good" is more than wiped away by the weekly displays of sideline buffoonery.
Football is big business and a bottom line business at that. His actual record supersedes the peripheral stuff no matter how frustrating.
Every loss can be defined as a "team loss". Still, that term is of very little applicability in this past Saturday's loss. The team stepped up and churned out a shockingly great performance. I only wish that I could say that Les Miles' coaching blunders were of equal shock. But, as we all know, that's simply not the case. Les Miles definitely shoulders the vast majority of blame for this unnecessary loss.
Whose gameplan do you think it was that had the team churn out such a "shockingly great" performance? I, for one, wasn't shocked at all--only shocked, actually, that we lost.
Besides the fake field goal, and onside kick attempt, what was really different with the gameplan? The Spencer Ware wildcat formation was done before. Maybe the option to RS that was run twice in a row? I think the difference is that the players are improving. They played with alot of passion and determimation vs Bama. The in-game decision making is what cost them a chance at redemption.
