“We would have liked to have him throw the football a little bit with him,” Miles said. “We just didn’t get around to it.” We didn't get around to it. That's unacceptable. I don't like bashing on the coaching staff but come on that's a terrible statement from the head coach. I know the fans are frustrated with Lee and and Miles has even shown frustration with Lee. It's not like the game was in doubt. Put him in and and at least we maybe avoid another "Pick Six" from Lee and maybe Lee has more confidence going into the Bama game. I really can't see how he could perform worse than Lee at this point.
Lee is our QB. Lee needs all of the experience he can get. Lee needs to take as many snaps as possible. Lee was starting and getting more snaps than anyone else next week, regardless of what happened against Tulane. Letting JJ chuck the ball around against Tulane would have accomplished very little to help us the rest of this season.
What if Lee gets hurt in the first quarter next week? You don't think it would have been good to let JJ get a little experience in preparation for that?
Let's assume Lee doesn't get hurt. The extra snaps could only help with his development. Lee needs all the snaps he can get. I think coach realizes that. Experience for Lee trumps experience for JJ.
What are 2-3 more series going to do for Lee, except maybe put him at more risk for injury. He has been in 8 games this year, those 2-3 accomplish very little for Jarrett Lee as well. Doesn't Jordan Jefferson need to be throwing the ball against college teams just in case Lee gets hurt.
those 2-3 more series will do a lot more for him than sitting on the bench will do. You cannot base your gameplan around one injury that "might" happen. We don't have that luxury this year due to having ZERO experienced QBs. There is absolutely no substitute for acuall game time, of which Jarett Lee (who WILL be our QB next year) needs more than anyone else currently on the roster.
LOL, He is at risk of injury when he is trying to make a tackle or recover a fumbled snap. sorry for that, but it's just funny now.
If Lee in injured early in this game, what chance do you think we have of winning with a true freshman QB? Letting JJ throw ten passes vs Tulane, IMO, would have little or no effect on his readiness to pla vs Alabama. If JJ gets into the game, it's going to be hand offs and a maybe a couple of pass plays that he is most comfortable.
our entire O-Line is at risk of injury on every play. Maybe we should bench a few of them to give the backups some experience. After all, they might get hurt in the 1st quarter against Bama.
