Looks like my effort to get the thread back on subject was not successful. Admittedly, I, too, was pretty perturbed by Kal's immediate negative take on a positive article (and I read your responses in full, there is no misinterpretation), but lets talk about the Tigers beating f*** Bama this weekend!
Some just refuse to look at anything except the negatives. Sorta a sad way to live if ya ask me. To you though good job on the article. Sometimes all it takes is a ray of hope to actually achieve great things.:geauxtige :LSU231: :geaux:
Hell, I posted a thread about another team entirely the other day in the College Sports forum, and the first two responses were bashing LSU. LSU wasn't even mentioned in my initial post of a thread about another team. I simply deleted my post and let them go on bashing LSU.:rolleye33:
It's all in the game day hat. Prolly why it's under lock and key with several armed guards standing around the air tight vault it's kept in. :milesmic:
I was thinking the same thing. Perhaps there's a little more than "luck" involved in Miles' success. In fact, I would venture to say that we've been really unlucky at the QB position for the past 3 years. I mean, who would've truly predicted such regression from JJ this year?
 Anyone that has watched football and doesn't look through fanboy glasses. Jefferson was not, is not and never will be a QB. I feel sorry for the kid, people trying to make him something he clearly is not was/is the problem. Of course, I would not call it "regression", I would call it the obvious the same.
What do I think? I think more of 2008-now has more do do with player issues more than anything else. Except for the D in 2008. For the past few years if it wasnt the QB it was the RB's. If it wasnt the RB's it was the O line. Some things have gotten better and some things have gotten worse. Though, one thing this team has never lost is their ability to compete. When a team deosnt even compete, that's when you need to worry. IMO, getting rid of Miles before axing some of the OC's is just asking for trouble. LSU has more of a chance this year to win 10 games, maybe even 11.... You just dont fire one THE winning-est coach LSU has ever had before you look in other areas.
I can agree with this. Superman's daddy keeps talking about the program slipping. Others have been talking about the current 'trend'. 2008 8-5 3-5 2009 9-4 5-3 2010 ? ? Let's just...for argument's sake...assume LSU wins 10 games this season, and goes 6-2 in the SEC. I think that's the low end of the spectrum this season, and doesn't include the bowl game. So, it's very possible LSU wins 11 games, but it's also possible the SEC record winds up 5-3 again. Either way you look at it though, there is no downward trend. That isn't a 'slipping program'. It's a stale program, yes. But given the issues that past 3 years, THAT ARE ALL EASILY CORRECTIBLE WITHOUT FIRING THE HEAD COACH, I don't understand the doom and gloom. Frustration? Yeah. Doom and gloom, we're slipping into mediocrity, we're in a downward spiral? No evidence to support those notions. None. Also, you mention the competitive nature of this team. I submit this. 2008 was the bottom. Rock bottom. That year, LSU was blown out of a couple of games, and there were signs of players giving up/quitting. No leadership developed on EITHER side of the ball. Last year was a major upswing on defense, and certain leaders began to take shape on that side of the ball. This year, the defense, even with MANY new YOUNG faces, has actually been better than last year. The offense needs to improve greatly, and needs leadership. IMO, also needs a new OC. But LSU has been in striking range of EVERY game since 2008. It is not going to take much for the offense, and subsequently, the team, to explode. Just need a fuse lighter.
I just looked at another LSU board. Won't mention the name of the one I dropped by. Holy Mackeral. That whole board must have the biggest collection of negative fans I've ever seen. You're bashed if you do support the team and Miles. I'd say 75% of the posters over there hope LSU loses tomorrow so it'll be another mark against Miles. Sure, there are some negative, miserable people here, but only about 1/4 th of what that one has. I can't imagine what an opposing fan must think if they scroll over there and the vast majority have quit on the 10th ranked team in the BCS with a 7-1 record.
